Something To Think About Randy Gilchrist, Executive Director I want to share with you an opportunity available to all the churches of San Jacinto Baptist Association. We have recently purchased a one-year license to show the movie, “I Can Only Imagine” through the Mobile Movie Ministry. For

more information contact the Mission Center Office. This year’s Association Annual Meeting will take on a different structure than we have had in the past. In the spirit of the Ministry Toolbox, we are going to have a Prayer Seminar being led by Ted Elmore, Pastor/Church Relations Associate and Prayer Strategist for the Southern Baptist of Texas State convention. Ted has served as a pastor / interim pastor (7 churches), evangelist (14 year ministry affecting 14 nations), and state convention leader (13 years) in both evangelism and prayer. I had the privilege to work with Ted when we were both on the Texas Baptists State Convention staff, where Ted held a similar position. Remember, the Annual Meeting is for all church members, both messengers and non-messengers to the Annual Meeting. Put October 16th at Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church on your calendar for the SJBA Annual Meeting. We will be sharing more information in the days to come. When Jesus prayed in John 17, he prayed for all who would believe as a result of personal testimony. His prayer was “that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.’ John 17:21.

For the Common Good Carey. D. Froelich, Associate Director for Church Enrichment ESV Romans 15:20 … thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else's foundation, 21 but as it is written, "Those who have

never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand." Keith and Kristyn Getty have a new album of hymns, praise, and songs under the title, Facing a Task Unfinished. The title song is based on a hymn text prepared in 1931 for a British Missionary challenge to discover 200 new volunteers to take the name of Christ to China. The hymn uses the familiar tune, aurelia, which we most identify with The Church’s One Foundation, and adds a modern chorus that says this: We go to all the world / With kingdom hope unfurled / No other name has power to save / But Jesus Christ the Lord. My point is not to sell the Getty’s music (although I can certainly recommend it), but to use the missionary/evangelistic theme to encourage all SJBA churches to pray for a renewed vision of reaching the 350,000 people who live in our church fields. The Summer Season at Lake Tomahawk is always a wonderful opportunity to “unfurl kingdom hope” in the lives of hundreds of campers. VBS represents another outreach; several churches are taking the good news to the people by hosting VBS in parks and other outdoor settings. Pray for these ministry efforts.

† † † † † SJBA will host its first Church Security Conference on August 25 featuring Baytown Assistant Chief David Alford and Insurance Executive Robert Monoghans, the conference will address a broad spectrum of security issues that churches should explore, including liability issues and similar needs related to all of our ministry activities. Contact the SJBA office for registration information.

Lake Tomahawk News Patrick Flowers, Camp Manager We are always looking for good volunteers in the association to come give us a hand with projects. This past month, on two different occasions, we had volunteers from Second Baytown’s Deacons. They accomplished a ton of work and we are so thankful that they spent their extra time with us getting ready for our summer camps. If your church is looking for a service project, please look into volunteering at Lake Tomahawk. Your room and board will be free!

Camp, Camp, Camp……..summer is coming fast and furious and we are busy getting ready for you to come to camp. Pray for Lake Tomahawk, Speakers, Worship Leaders, Camp Directors and Chaperones, but most of all pray for the campers who are coming to meet our Lord and Savior. We are excited about this summer and look forward to see what God has planned for all of us. Remember that all ministers in the San Jacinto Baptist Association are invited to an overnight get-a-way at Lake Tomahawk. It’s free of charge but you must call for availability ahead of time. As we co-labor together, Patrick Flowers

From the Pew:

Don’s Daily Parable ~ You Get It All!

I have had a bunch of surgeries since I’ve been a parent. During those times, there are chores that I cannot do for a while until I recover. I remember one time, I asked Jarrod to mow the yard for me. He began to mow and, after a bit, I just happened to go out to the back yard to see how he was doing. OK, I’m pretty persnickety about the yard. Anyway, I happened to notice that when Jarrod was mowing, instead of mowing in a series of lines, or mowing around in a square which gets smaller and smaller, he was just criss-crossing here and there, lopping a triangle over there, and so on. I have to admit, I almost lost it. I said, “Jarrod, you need to mow in a pattern. That way you don’t miss anything”. He assured me that he would get it all. I sighed and went back into the house. He did do a good job and didn’t miss anything. You know, the plan of God’s salvation is simple. God designed it that way so even a child could understand it. He wanted to give every human being the opportunity to accept His free gift of eternal life. It’s kind of like the way Jarrod mowed the yard. He just got it done. It didn’t have to be done a certain way, with every corner done just so. God made His plan simple. You accept His Son and what He did on the cross, that He didn’t remain in the grave, repent, and serve Him and love Him with all your heart. When you’ve done that, you get it all! God bless you.
