T he Postal Corporation of Kenya launched a new set of Commemorative stamps in honor of the 50 th Anniversary of Kenya’s independence on 10 th December 2013. The ceremony was presided over by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts, Dr. Hassan Wario Arero, as the Chief Guest, represented by the Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Omutia. Also present was the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology, Mr. Joseph Musuni Ole Tiampati, the then Chairman, PCK Board of Directors, Mr. Cyrus Maina and a num- ber of honorary philatelists drawn from across the country. Speaking at the event, Mr. Cyrus Maina stated that the Commemorative Stamps objective is to showcase the strides the Country has made in various spheres, socially, economically, and politically, for the last 50 years (1963-2013). He further noted that the Postage stamp is significant as it is the tool that justifies pre- payment for Postage of Mail, expressing culture and history as well as an educational instrument for citi- zens. T he Postal Corporation of Kenya launched a new set of Commemorative stamps in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Kenya’s independence on 10th December 2013. The ceremony was presided over by

P ostal Corporation of Kenya recently welcomed

a new Chairman, Board of Direc-tors, Eng. Sammy Kiprotich Tangus at a handing over cere-mony held on 17th January 2014. This followed the exit of Mr. Cyrus Maina who held the post from May 2008 to January 2014. Eng. Tangus has vast experience in the Civil Engineering field having previously worked for the Ministry of Roads and Public Works and various other organi-zations for over 20 years. The Board, Management and Staff wish Eng. Tangus a pros-perous and successful tenure as Chairman of the Postal Corpora-tion of Kenya.

The Commemorative stamps acknowl-edge the immense contribution made by the Government and citizens of Kenya in realizing the socio-economic growth in line with the blueprint Vision 2030. The 100 stamps also depict significant milestones Kenya has made since inde-pendence in 1963 to where we stand to-day in 2014. Each sheet-let has 25 stamps together with 3 souvenir sheets and are available in all Post Offices countrywide for use in postage and collection by lovers of phi-lately.

POSTA RANGERS LOOKING FORWARD TO A SUCCESSFUL 2014 FOOTBALL SEASON

T he year 2013 was a great success for the Posta Rangers Football Club officially sponsored by the Corporation in the Football Kenya Federation, Division One (1) Nation Wide League (2013). The

Team topped Zone (A) Group (II) having won 16 matches, drawing in 5 (five), loosing only one (1) and, therefore, amassing 53 out of a possible 66 points. They topped with a margin of 10 points clear from their closest rival in the Zone, Nakumatt FC. The Mailmen met the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), winners of Zone (A) Group One (I) on Saturday, December 21st 2013 for a single slot allocated for the Tusker Premier League 2014. The explosive and excit-ing derby, that took place at the Nairobi City Stadium, ended on a 2-2 draw, which led to a sudden death post match penalty. The Taxmen (KRA) won 5-4 and hence qualified for the Tusker Premier League 2014. Posta Rangers, having topped Division one (1) Nationwide automatically qualified for the newly created GOTV National Super League 2014, where a total of 22 elite teams drawn from across the country, will compete for two (2) slots allocated to the Tusker Premier League 2015.

The Coach, Mr. Leonard Saleh has expressed optimism in his team to perform better this year after acquiring seven (7) new players. The play-ers are expected to bolster the team’s strength in attack, midfield and defense in this year’s competitive League. He reiterated that the team was up to the task ahead to win the three (3) trophies they will be competing for; The GOTV National Super League (2014), GOTV Cup and the KECOSO 2014 Football Cup. The Board, Management and Staff are espe-cially proud of Posta Rangers FC (Mailmen) and wish them success in all their future endeavors.
