Outline of short filmOur film will consist of a storyline atypical to a fast-paced action film. The

protagonist wakes up late realising he must deliver a briefcase of unknown contents to his boss, unknowingly being tailed, and is unexpectedly struck by another just as keen to get his hands on it. The two engage in violent combat, though this will have comical aspects as to differentiate it from other action films. As the protagonist emerges with the upper hand, the story comes to an unexpected halt.

In order to gain an insight into common features of an action/comedy film, we researched several films of this genre, all of which at least one of us has watched. An example is Zombieland; during which there are many violent acts involving the undead, though this is made exciting and appealing through the actors’ portrayal of the situation along with how they carry out these acts with their weapons e.g. shown satisfaction when successfully carrying out an over exaggerated violent act.

Methods of promotion/exhibitionWe will exhibit our product using YouTube, as it is relevant to our target

audience; it is a popular, easily accessible website with which our film can gain a lot of attention and subsequently, views.

In terms of promotion, we will use Twitter and Facebook pages specifically for our short film and production company, which will increase the number of people talking about and anticipating our film. These social media websites are also popular amongst our target audience, and through these we can not only post our progress in completing the short film, but also post links and images relating to it. This will increase our audience’s interest.

The development of our product will be recorded on our blog, infinityscope.tumblr.com. We have chosen to use Tumblr rather than Blogger or Wordpress as it allows more flexibility in our blog’s appearance, and I personally felt more comfortable using it.

Our main character will represent generic codes portrayed by those in action/comedy films; he will be tall, masculine, intelligent and powerful as he overcomes obstacles and forces in an over exaggerated manner. Our antagonist will similarly be seen as strong and hard-headed, though with clouded judgement and determination, distinguishing the two characters. Their characters intentions will be highlighted by their costume and makeup, though the result of the clash between them will be unclear.

During filming we will be using a Sony HVR Z1 camera and a tripod in order to create a professional short film; to do so our film must be of the highest possible quality, and intentionally still shots must be stabalised. We also intend to use a dolly to capture smooth camera movements as our film will include a fast-paced chase scene. We are, however, prepared to go handheld and possibly have to film a shot several times so that it is exactly how we want it to look.
