• Remove  Iamsterdam  (it  is  nice,  but  it  is  in  the  wrong  place  because  it  blocks  the  view  on  the  Rijksmuseum)  

• Illuminate  also  the  building  around  the  square  to  make  it  safer  during  evening  times.  • Comfortable  benches  • More  green,  plants,  flowers  • (Accessible)  toilet  • Fun  things,  games,  chess,  in  order  to  make  people  stay  • Protection  against  wind  and  bad  weather  (a  shelter)  • Musicians  • Museumplein  manager  • Small  activities  -­‐  party,  book  market,  art  market,  small  markets  in  general

• Garden  –  fence  –  pavemen  –  beautiful  lamp  posts:  extend  the  garden  through  the  fence  with  some  benches,  so  that  people  stay,  pass  through  (make  the  border  softer)  

• Green  (pots)  at  the  edges  of  the  fence  • Visibility  of  the  garden  entrance  (color?)  • Exhibition  on  the  fence  (or  what  is  happening  in  the  museums)  • Map  at  the  backside  of  the  Cobra  Cafe  (interactive)  in  order  to  make  it  clear  where  the  

square  starts.    • Remove  parking  spaces  next  to  Cobra  Café    • Better  signage  to  the  Zuiderbad  with  information  about  the  building.  Put  the  fence  to  

the  back,  open  up  the  changing  rooms  so  people  see  there  is  a  pool  there.    • Include  Brasserie  and  Zuiderbad  (sand,  beach  chairs)

Short-­‐term  points  

• Improve  street  furniture:  moveable,  in  the  style  of  a  living-­‐room,  around  the  pond,  in  different  colours  (also  for  elders)  

• Cosier  lightning  • More  colour  • Green  area  around  the  pond  for  bare  feet  • Live  music  from  the  Concertgebouw  reproduced  and  “performed”  with  light,  sound,  and  

water-­‐forms  in  the  pond  and  around  the  pond.  • Playing  elements  for  kids,  not  only  at  the  pond,  but  also  between  the  kiosks,  small  bikes,  

small  sports  activities,  for  the  neighbourhood  and  Amsterdammers,  not  separate  them  but  mingle  them  with  tourists  

• Pop-­‐up  activities  (food,  drinks,  sport  activities  for  Amsterdammers)  • Starting  point  for  guides  (ambassadors)  • Hosts  of  Museumplein  • A  place  to  connect  Amsterdamse  intiatives

• Add  light  and  sound  to  the  fountain  in  order  to  attract  more  activities  • Envision  the  square  as  a  reflection  of  what  is  “trapped”  in  the  nearby  iconic  buildings  • Install  huge  mirrors  where  the  people  sitting  on  the  benches  can  connect  with  the  world

GROUP  9:  COBRA  CAFE  TERRACE,  PLAYGROUND,  SKATE  RAMP  

Short-­‐term  points  

• Better  seats,  for  instance  cushions/  yoga  mats  facing  each  other  • Decorating  benches  and  skate  ramp  with  art  (also  more  coherence)  • Sandbox  for  the  small  children,  or  wipkippen  • (We  sort  of  missed-­‐overlooked  the  basketball  field)  

Mid-­‐term  and  long-­‐term  points  

• Grass  instead  of  gravel  • Move  IAMsterdam  to  the  other  side  of  the  pond  or  away  (better  connection  with  

museum)  • Blend  in  Cobra,  skate  park  and  the  playground  better  with  Rijksmuseum  (incl.  terrace)  • For  the  café:  change  benches,  trees  –  it  is  too  aesthetic,  more  form  than  function

• Better/uniform  bike  facilities  • Improvement  at  eye  level:  

o Rebuilding  of  Rijks/Atelier  –  looks  like  prison  –  No  Sign  o Attractive  front  gardens/side  

• Add  signs  with  what  is  happening  inside  the  buildings  (functionality-­‐history)  • Connection  between  Honthorststraat  and  Museumplein  (connection  is  not  really  there.  

It  stops.  It  is  designed  for  bicycles  and  cars.  Not  so  much  for  pedestrians  –  both  short  and  long-­‐term)
