The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (4-5-3) could not overcome a second-half tally by Orlando City B (4-4-3), falling to the visitors 2-1 at Highmark Stadium. Breaking a four-match goalless streak for the Hounds was Corey Hertzog, who potted the match’s initial tally in the 30th minute. Orlando City B equalized later in the first half off a shot from Hadji Barry in the 42nd before Zach Ellis-Hayden netted the go-ahead goal in the 53rd minute. The Hounds are in search of breaking a three-match winless streak in league play and find themselves outside the top-eight of the Eastern Conference (ninth) for the first time since May 3. Pittsburgh will look to translate past success into current gains against Toronto, as the club has yet to lose the Reds in six head-to-head match-ups all-time (5-0-1). The latest meeting between the two clubs resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Hounds, part of a three-match winning streak in May. Additionally, a victory here could prove vital if the Hounds want to keep their playoff hopes alive, as they close out the month of June with a brutal back-to-back stretch against the two of the top-three clubs in the East in Louisville and Tampa Bay. Currently last in the East, Toronto has struggled mightily so far this year, having not recorded a win since its season opener on March 25. The club has yet to score more than one goal in a match this season and currently has totaled only three goals overall, including one tally in its past nine matches. A welcomed sight amidst a tough loss at home against Orlando this past weekend was Corey Hertzog snapping a four-match goalless streak. Hertzog tallied his sixth goal on the year in the defeat, a rare occurrence, as it marked the first time the Hounds have lost this season when the forward has scored (3-1-1). With 19 career goals in the Black and Gold, Hertzog’s next tally would push him into a tie with teammate Kevin Kerr for seventh all-time in club history. • Speaking of club history, Mike Green moved into a tie for third with former defender Sterling Flunder in all-time club appearances (123) after starting against Orlando. While his next cap will be a momentous one for the Ohio native, it is also worth noting both Green and Flunder are the only players to have played for the Hounds since 2010 to hold spots in the club’s top-five. Season-high and season-low shot totals do not appear to factor much into whether or not the Hounds come away with a W on any given day. Last match against Orlando was the latest example, as despite season-highs in shots (19) and shots on goal (9), the Hounds fell 2-1. In fact, the previous high in shots of 14 resulted in no wins on both occasions (0-1-1), while the club’s season-low of six ended up as a 1-0 victory over Ottawa. Shot suppression? Same story. The club allowed a season-low to Orlando (7), and is 1-3-1 when allowing 10 or less shots for the season. 2017 SCHEDULE & RECORD League Record: 4-5-3 Home: 2-4-1 • Away: 2-1-2 • Non-League Play: 0-1-0 MARCH Sat. 25 NEW YORK RED BULLS II YouTube T, 3-3 APRIL Sat. 1 FC CINCINNATI YouTube L, 0-1 Sat. 8 @Charleston Battery YouTube W, 2-1 Wed. 12 SAINT LOUIS FC YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 15 @Charlotte Independence YouTube T, 1-1 Sat. 22 @Richmond Kickers YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 29 HARRISBURG CITY ISLANDERS YouTube W, 1-0 MAY Wed. 3 TORONTO FC II ESPN3 W, 1-0 Sat. 13 @Ottawa Fury FC YouTube W, 1-0 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round Two Sat. 17 @Chicago FC United US Soccer L, 1-3 Sat. 20 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube L, 0-1 Wed. 24 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube T, 0-0 JUNE Sat. 3 ORLANDO CITY B YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 10 @Toronto FC II YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 17 @Louisville City FC YouTube 7:30 pm Thur. 22 TAMPA BAY ROWDIES YouTube 7 pm JULY Tue. 4 CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENCE YouTube 7 pm Sat. 8 @Orlando City B YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 15 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 5 pm Sat. 22 @Rochester Rhinos YouTube 6:05 pm Wed. 26 CHARLESTON BATTERY YouTube 7 pm Sat. 29 @Tampa Bay Rowdies YouTube 7:30 pm AUGUST Sat. 5 RICHMOND KICKERS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 12 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube 7 pm Sat. 19 @Saint Louis FC YouTube 8:30 pm Sat. 26 BETHLEHEM STEEL FC YouTube 7 pm SEPTEMBER Sat. 2 @FC Cincinnati YouTube 4 pm Sat. 9 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube 7 pm Sat. 16 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sun. 24 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 3 pm Sat. 30 @New York Red Bulls II YouTube 4 pm OCTOBER Sat. 7 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 14 OTTAWA FURY FC YouTube 7 pm 2017 Pittsburgh Riverhounds > riverhounds.com > @PghRiverhounds > #TORvPGH LAST TIME OUT Last Game Summary Hounds 1, Orlando City B 2 Game 12 Highmark Stadium June 3, 2017 INDIVIDUAL Category Riverhounds Opponent Points 4 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Goals 2 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 2 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Assists 1 - 2x; Kevin Kerr (4/8 | 4/29) 2 - Wes Charpie, Saint Louis (4/12) Shots 7 - Corey Hertzog vs. Orlando (6/3) 4 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) SOG 5 - Corey Hertzog vs. Orlando (6/3) 3 - Luke Spencer, Louisville (5/20) 3 - Fred Owusu Sekyere, Richmond (4/22) 3 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) Saves 5 - Trey Mitchell vs. Louisville (5/20) 8 - Earl Edwards Jr., Orlando (6/3) TEAM Hounds High Hounds Low Category Opp High Opp Low 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - three times Points 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - four times 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - three times Goals 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - four times 2 - twice 0 - six times Assists 2 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - five times 19 - vs. Orlando (6/3) 6 - at Ottawa (5/13) Shots 16 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) 7 - vs. Orlando (6/3) 9 - vs. Orlando (6/3) 3 - four times SOG 7 - vs. New York (3/25) 2 - two times 5 - vs. Louisville (5/20) 0 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) Saves 8 - vs. Orlando (6/3) 2 - five times 14 - at Charleston (4/8) 7 - vs. Louisville (5/20) Fouls 17 - two times 6 - at Richmond (4/22) SUPERLATIVES CLUB NOTABLES All-Time Leading Goal Scorer ......................................................................
