LMS Test.Lab Signal Calculator[TL-GPR.51.2]
The LMS Test.Lab Time Signal Calculator Workbook is a
member of the LMS Test.Lab General Purpose Processing
product family. The calculator processes time data in a user-
friendly and efficient way, and not only allows a user-
interactive mode of operation, but it is also possible to fit the
calculator in the measurement flow, such that immediately
after the acquisition, additional calculated time traces will be
available. In case the Data Set contains multiple runs, then all
defined operations will be executed in batch mode for each of
the runs.
The Time Signal Calculator includes the Time Data Selection
worksheet and benefits from all functionality offered by this
worksheet (manual or automatic visualization of time data via
powerful stripchart displays, overview or detailed
visualization, segment selection, quick spectral map for
inspection of frequency content, support of different data
types such as LMS TDF, SDF, …).
Calculations can be defined using PointId’s or Trace Id’s.
PointId’s provide maximum flexibility for cabling while
guaranteeing that the correct results are obtained. TraceId’s
allow to speed up the definition of formula’s. Formula’s are
verified for their syntax, and can be saved for later reuse.
Possible calculations include arithmetic operations, fixedresampling, filtering, Tacho-to-rpm conversion, weighting,
integration/differentiation etc. Calculations can be done on
user-definable segments or on the complete trace. Results
can be added to the original run, or can be saved separately.
The processing workbook addresses the needs for time
domain processing in the signature testing process : easy
operation, application focus, user-interactive and open to in-
process automation.
Key benefits
Efficient and user-intuitive timedata processing
Support of multiple data types(LMS TDF, SDF, Pimento, …)
User-Interactive, automated (in-process) or batch mode ofoperation
Formula Sets can be saved forlater reuse. The complete set offormula’s can be applied in asingle calculation step.
Calculations can be applied onuser-definable segments, orover the complete trace
Support of TraceId’s orPointId’s in Formula’s formaximum flexibility
Easy visual validation ofcalculated results, beforesaving
Calculated results can beadded to the original run (forLMS TDF only), or can besaved separately

Formula Setup
Virtually unlimited number offormulae can be defined
Convenient tabular listing offormulae enhancing a quickoverview of all definedcalculations
Support of editing operations:create, delete of individualuser-selectable formulae orclear of complete formulae set,Copy/Past, Hide/Unhide
Complete Formula Set can besaved/loaded
Formula editor provides syntax
checking and verifies thecompatibility with the formulaarguments (units, samplerates. …) to avoid unnecessaryerrors during calculation
Convenient trace renumberingassures unique traceidentification
PointId, Direction and ChannelGroups can be defined duringcreation of the formula, allowing immediate furtherprocessing of the results
Easy selection of processingfunctions via a pop-up dialog:multiple categories are
presented (All, Math,Conditioning, Signal, Tacho)supporting a quick retrieval ofthe required processing.
Convenient help areaexplaining the requiredparameters for the selectedfunction
Parameters of selectedfunctions can be manuallyedited while selection ofTraceId’s or PointId’s can alsobe done via simple mouseclicks
Processing
Complete Formula Set can beprocessed in one step orindividual formulae can beselected for (re)processing
Support of mathematicaloperators (+ , - , * , / ) andsupport of the followingcategories of processing
functions: MathematicalProcessing (Product, Divide, ABS, SQR, SQRT,SIN,COS,TAN,ASIN,ACOS,AT AN), Conditioning Processing(Integrate, Double Integrate,
Differentiate, DoubleDifferentiate, DopplerCorrection, Low-pass filtering,High-pass filtering, Band-Passor Band-Stop filtering, Notch orOrder filtering, A- B- and C-weighting, unweighting ofweighted data), SignalProcessing (Detrend resultingin the AC or DC-component,Fixed Resampling), TachoProcessing (Tacho-Train-to-rpm)
Calculated results canimmediately be reused forfurther processing with the
Signature ThroughputProcessing Add-In
Calculations can be performedon user-definable tracesegments
Calculated traces can be addedto the original run, or can besaved in a separate run.
Process Automation
The formula editor supportsnested formulas, allowing tospeed up the calculation of
results (e.g.Integrate(Detrend_AC(S1)) )
Calculations can be performed immediately after each run, without any user-interactionsupporting repetitive operations
Formula Set and mode ofoperation can be saved to atemplate for quick start-up, andto avoid possible operatorerrors
