Picture 3 Men standing outside of buildings pouring something out of glass jugs. What is the situation of the people in the photograph? Provide evidence from the photo that tells you this. Picture 1 They are most likely supporters of Hitler because they are “hailing Hitler” by raising their arm. Picture 2 This platoon is preparing for the war to be over or they are going back home because they are smiling and seem happy. Picture 3 People in these photograph support prohibition because they seem to be pleased with the alcohol being poured out onto the sidewalk. What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey? Picture 1 The photographer was trying to show that many people supported Hitler, even young adolescents. Picture 2 The photographer is portraying that the American soldiers are enjoying their time in the war; however, being in the war was a painful experience for most people. Picture 3 The photographer is showing that there were supporters of prohibition and that everyone should be smiling at the end of alcohol like these men are. Why is this photograph important to history? Picture 1 This is important to history because it shows that Hitler had many supporters, including the youth. Picture 2 This shows that American soldiers are happy at the chance to be going home and in this picture most of the soldiers are extremely young so this picture was probably one of the wars where most of the soldiers were drafted (Vietnam or Korean War). Picture 3 This is important to history because during the 1920s prohibition was a major part of the American lifestyle and is part of our history now. What questions does this photograph raise? Picture 2 What war were soldiers in, where are they stationed, when do they get to go home and is the war over or close to being over? Picture 3 What building is this located at, why are this men pouring alcohol on the ground, and who are the men watching them? Picture 3 – Research about any instances in the 1920s where alcohol was publically poured out in front of many people to find out where this was. Also, mainly research prohibition and the main supporting groups. Based on what you have observed list 3 things you might infer from the photograph Picture 1 – These are school aged Nazi children, from Germany, that are supporters of Hitler.

Picture 2 –This is either the Korean or Vietnam War, they are excited to come home, and they are

most likely draftees.

Picture 3 – This is the 1920s when prohibition started and prohibition had a strong support system by

the middle to upper class males. This picture shows that women did not have a say.
