Everyone will go on celebrating the old

Birthday, counting the years as usual,

But I will count myself new from this

inception

this imprint of my own

desire.

Page 9: Crossroads poem anaylsis

The second half of my life will be swift,

past leaning fence posts,

a gravel shoulder,

asphalt tickets,

the beckon of open road.

Page 10: Crossroads poem anaylsis

The second half of my life will be wide-eyed,

Fingers shifting through fine sands,

Arms loose at my sides, wandering feet.

Page 11: Crossroads poem anaylsis

There will be new dreams every night,

Page 12: Crossroads poem anaylsis

and the drapes will never be closed.

Page 13: Crossroads poem anaylsis

I will toss my string of keys into a deep

And old letters into the grate.

Page 14: Crossroads poem anaylsis

The second half of my life will be ice

breaking up on the river,

Page 15: Crossroads poem anaylsis

soaking the fields,

going

Upwards, always up.
