DESCRIPTION

Text of the provocative flyer circulated by Ryde Mayor Bill Pickering featuring him wearing his mayoral robes and then a page of suggestive smear - disingenuous to the extreme in light of the fact that Pickering was one of a small group of people who engineered an ICAC inquiry to target political rival councillors in Ryde. Text from the dirty political gutter leaflet for which he may now pay a hefty price. He will probably try to get Ryde to foot the bill for his dirty tricks campaign if he's pinged for defamation, so the community should be vigilant and alert this will likely be his next move. - -_Dear Resident,

Your vote for Liberal candidate, Jane Stott, at this Saturday's Ryde Council by-election is critically important for the very survival of our council and the future proper management of our city.

The recent ICAC Inquiry and Report into Ryde Council was highly critical of a number of Independent Councillors, and a former Independent Councillor. The ICAC was "of the opinion that consideration should be

given to obtaining the advice of the OPP ... with respect to the prosecution of" (various named persons) "for the specified criminal offences", including "Accepting an indirect campaign contribution pursuant to s.96E of

the EFED Act" (the Electoral Funding, Expenditure and Disclosures Act 1981) "in relation to advertising published in The Weekly Times on 29 August and 5 September 2012."

The Liberal Councillors were not the subject of criticism or adverse findings or recommendations by the ICAC.

Now, Labor and the Independents are working together again through preference deals in East Ward to -attempt to stop-tne success and focus ffiel.ioerals have acfi1eved 1n bringing good local government to Ryde -

over the past 18 months.

Our great city faces major challenges in being 'fit for the future' financially and preventing the Ryde area being

divided up between Parramatta and other council areas. We are addressing this now, but the risk is huge

should the Liberal candidate not be elected - potentially creating the dysfunction or worse delivered by a

combined Labor/Independent collective as seen previously.

I sincerely urge you to just VOTE 1 Liberal for JANE STOTT and NOT GIVE PREFERENCES to other candidates. If you must vote for another candidate that you believe would not contribute to the Labor/Independents' mess of the past, then please at least place the number 2 beside Jane Stott so you and our city do not end up with a

totally unwanted candidate being elected.

FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CITY, 'KEEP RYDE IN SAFE HANDS'. JUST VOTE ONE FOR JANE STOTT, LIBERAL.
