Advertising Photography What is it?

Advertising photography involves taking pictures for commercial use: for example in adverts, merchandising, and product placement.

It can also be used in corporate brochures and leaflets, menus in cafes and similar advertising uses where photographs enhance a text.

There are a number of ways that photographs can be used to better market products and corporations.

How is it used?We see these images when promoting and selling, such as a type of

brand. Advertising photography has been around for a while, for example in the 1950’s, as it is used of women in the kitchen

Landscape PhotographyLandscape photography is a section or portion of scenery as seen from a single viewpoint. Scenery is the subject of a landscape image. Typically, people and animals are not shown ina landscape, unless they are relatively small in the image and have been included in the composition to show scale.

There are also three styles of landscape photography which are often recognized - representational, impressionistic and abstract.

Fashion PhotographyFashion photography is a genre of photography based on displaying clothing and other item. Fashion photography is most often used for advertisement or fashion magazines such as vogue.

Fashion Photography could be seen as the most popular type of photography to certain audiences such as women and female young teenagers as Fashion is seen a lot on billboards and in magazines.

How is it used? Fashion Photography is most often conducted for magazines such as Vogue or Cosmopolitan, it can also be found on advertisements such as billboards. Over time Fashion Photography has developed to the accessories or the location being the aesthetics in which the fashion is enhanced.

Photojournalism • Photojournalism  is  a  particular  form  of  journalism  (the  collecting,  editing,  and  presenting  of  news  material  for  publication  or  broadcast)  that  employs  images  in  order  to  tell  a  news  story.  It  is  now  usually  understood  to  refer  only  to  still  images,  but  in  some  cases  the  term  also  refers  to  video  used  in  broadcast  journalism.  Some  even  go  into  active  war  zones  to  get  the  uncut  and  unedited  take  on  the  war.

How is it used?• The pictures that are taken would most likely end up in

newspapers and would be used by tv news outlets. These images are sometimes used are shocking due to their raw nature, such as the image below. This shows a vulture waiting for a young boy to die. So this type of photojournalism is used show nature and can be seen quite raw.
