Want to improveyour kids’ test scores, helpyour husband lose weight or– gasp – free some time foryourself? There are fourphases to help track progress:

planning, or establishinggoals; collection, or conduct-ing research on your currentprocess; analysis – compar-ing information from existingprocesses with the new one;and adapting, or implement-ing the new process.

• Understand your home’s“workforce.” A good CEOhelps her employees growand develop, not only for thecompany’s benefit, but for theemployee’s as well. Mostpeople are happiest whenthey feel they’re learning andgrowing, working toward agoal, which may be promotionwithin the company or some-

thing beyond it.When they feel the CEO is

helping with that, they’re hap-pier, more productive, moreloyal employees. Likewise,CEO Moms need to help theirchildren gain the skills andknowledge they need not onlyto succeed in general but toachieve their individualdreams.

• A well-running householdis a community effort; consider“automated” systems. In busi-ness, automated systems tendto be as clinical as they sound,typically involving technology.Yet, there’s also a human re-source element. Automatedsystems are a must for CEOMoms, and they tend to takethe form of scheduling athome. Whose night is it for thedishes, or trash? One childmay be helpful in the kitchen,whereas another may be bet-ter at cleaning the pool.
