In 1935, seventeen Master Plumbers resolved to unite allpractitioners in order to modernize the practice of plumbing and to

provide clients with professionalized plumbing services. Theyorganized the NAMPAP and had it registered with the Securitiesand Exchange Commission.

Subsequently, the Association was accredited by the PRC on

October 2, 1975 as the fourteenth accredited professionalorganization.

The NAMPAP pioneered in efforts leading towards the creationof the Department of Public Services in the City of Manila and the

passage of City Ordinance 2411, The Plumbing Code for the City ofManila. It also initiated the formulation of the National PlumbingCode of the Philippines which was promulgated on January 28,1959.

In the ensuing years, the Association actively engaged itself in the

formulation of the National Building Code, the passage of the lawcreating the National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority, and theenactment of Republic Act No. 1378, Plumbing Law, on June 18, 1955.On January 28, 1959, the National Plumbing Code of the Philippinesprepared by NAMPAP was promulgated and approved by Malacaang.

NAMPAP assisted in the passage of the law creating the NationalWaterworks and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA).

In 1966-1969, the Board of Master Plumbersand NAMPAP prepared a curriculum for Master

Plumbing/Plumbing Engineering approved by theDepartment of Education and first introduced atthe Feati University.

On June 28, 1967, the First Amendment toRepublic Act 1378 was approved, which effectedthe inclusion of Asbestos-Cement Pipe as anapproved plumbing material. Before Martial Lawin 1972, Republic Act No. 6541 otherwise knownas the Building Code of the Philippines waspassed with the National Plumbing of 1959 as

referral code in full text.

In 1997, NAMPAP President Jaime M. Cabasespearheaded the drafting of the Revised

Plumbing Code. Finally, in October 1999,NAMPAP submitted the same to the Board ofExaminers for Master Plumbers. After carefulreview, the Professional Regulation Commissionadopted the Revised Plumbing Code of 1999which President Joseph Estrada approvedpursuant to Section 4 of Republic Act No. 1378last December 1999.

In 1999, NAMPAP initiated the filing of alegislative proposal to upgrade the trade of

Master Plumbers to the profession of PlumbingEngineers.
