PeePee TeePee : Wiener Cover Knitting Pattern
Pee pee cover for diaper changes
I used 100% pure wool in aran/10 ply weight and a set of 4 DPNs in size 8 (5.0 mm). It
starts off as an I-cord, then gradually increases to form the base. The I-cord is sort of a
handle for the item.
Cast on 3 (three) stitches
R1: Knit as I-cord (3 stitches)
R2: K1 as I-cord, k1m1, K1. (4 stitches)
R3: K1 as I-cord, k1m1, k1, k1m1 (6 stitches)
R4: Knit all as I-cord (6 stitches)
R5: Join in the round and knit all stitches. (6 stitches)
R6: K1M1 around (12 stitches)
R7: Knit all.
R8: (K2, K1M1)* repeat 3 times, k1. (15 stitches)
R9: Knit around.
R10: K1M1 around (30 stitches)
R11: Knit around.
R12: (K6, K1M1)* repeat 4 times, knit to end. (34 stitches)
R13-22 Knit around.
Bind off in knit loosely! Weave in the ends, and treat the wool project with lanolin!
Abbreviations used:
K: Knit
P: Purl
K1M1: Knit one, make one: Knit one stitch as normal, but to not drop the old stitch
-
from the left needle, put right needle into the old stitch again in the opposite side (i.e. if
you knit into the back of the stitch first, knit the second time into the front of the stitch),
then drop the old stitch. You should have two stitches now instead of one.
I-Cord: Knit all stitches across on a double pointed needle, slide project to the opposite
side of the needle, then flip needle and begin knitting across again.
Ive read a few reviews of the peepee teepees and it seems like the general shape of them
are counter-productive because they tend to move around and fall off from their
designated area. Im going to work on a simpler pattern for wiener covers, which will
be rectangular with a gently coned center. A perfect knit for baby boys!
