PE#Beach#Games#2013:#July#Edition##

'The!recently!concluded!PE!Beach!Games!2013:!July!Edition!was!another!showcase!of!studentteacher!teamwork.!

The!afternoon!at!Angol!Beach!found!PE!students!competing!in!

various!events!that!required!their!English!language!skills!to !covet!victory.!Laughter!and!cheers!were!endless.!Everyone !had!a!ball!

during!the!Egg#Toss/Catching!game!while!powderwhite!covered!

faces!sent!everyone!to!giggle!fits!during!the!Blow2the2Flourand2

Find2the2Coin!contest.!

Teachers!John!and!Ted!led!Team!Crazy#Christmas#Party!in!

finishing!first,!winning!delicious!set!meals!at!Tilapia!n!Chips!

Restaurant.!Runnersup!Polar#Bear#Crushers,#Repeat#Please!!and!

The#Grizzlies!also!went!home!winners!with!limited!edition!PE!

shirts,!gift!certificates!from!PE!Snack!Shack!and!Gatorade!energy!

drinks!as!consolation!prizes.!

Claus!and!Stephanie!graced!the!event,!encouraging!all!teams!to!do!their!best.!It!was!an!afternoon!well!spent,!full!of!fun!and!

laughter.!When!it!was!time!to!go,!the!students!were!unwilling!and!

had!to!be!told!several!times!to!get!out!of!the!water!as!they!took!to!

riding!the!waves!and!splashing!each!other!

After!a!week!of!serious!studying,!students!are!always!ready!for!a!

break!on!Saturday.!Recently,!Teacher!Benjie!organized!a!day!trip!to!

Jawili!Falls!in!Aklan.!

Though!a!cloudy!day,!both!students!and!teachers!arrived!with!a!

sunny!mood.!PE!hired!a!local !jeepney!which!unintentionally!set!the!

stage!for!an!uncommon!experience.!About!half!of!the!group!positioned!

themselves!atop!the!vehicle!and!rode!to!Tangalan,!a!charming!town!

known!for!the!falls!7!basins.!Any!trace!of!shyness!among!the!students!

from!various!countries!disappeared!as!they!

held!on!to!each!other!and!the!jeepneys!

rooftop!during!the!exciting!short!ride!!

Everyone!had!a!great!time!doing!several!

activities:!swimming,!exploring!the!7!basins,!

waterfall!diving,!hiking!up!the!seven!

waterfalls,!nature!trekking,!strolling!along!

or!boating!in!nearby!Jawili!Beach,!

picnicking!and!scenic!viewing.!!!

Students!and!teachers!posed!as!

cameras!clicked!on!a!Saturday!marked!

by!beautiful!scenery,!perfect!weather,!lots!of!fun!

and!merrymaking.!

I!spent!6!weeks!in!2012!and!another!6!weeks!in!

2013!on!Boracay!Island!and!was!enrolled!for!5!weeks!at!

Paradise!English!each!time.!The!courses!were!well!

structured!and!the!teachers!were!very!professional,!

helpful!and!friendly.!I!really!feel!that!my!English!

knowledge!has!improved.!!

I!also!attended!some!activities!on!the!weekends!

organized!by!PE,!such!as!playing!football!at!the!beach,!karaoke,!sun!bathing!at!nice!beaches,!hanging!out!at!one!

of!the!hundreds!of!beach!bars,!and!so!on.!I!can!really!

recommend!these!social!activities!because!they!offer!a!

great!chance!to!get!in!touch!with!other!students!and!the!

possibility!to!learn!more!about!Boracay!and!other!

countries!and!cultures.!

I!had!chosen!to!stay!in!an!apartment!rather!than!

with!a!host!family.!As!I!was!diving!every!day,!which!I!

warmly!recommend!for!everyone!who!is!in!love!with!the!

underwater!world,!I!often!had!conversations!in!English!

with!other!divers!and!dive!instructors!from!all!over!the!

globe.!This!was!a!perfect!occasion!to!improve!my!oral!knowledge!while!doing!activities!I!really!enjoy.!

All!things!considered,!I!found!that!PE!is!like!a!big!

family,!the!Institute!is!neither!too!big!nor!too!small.!All!

teachers!are!doing!a!marvelous!job!taking!care!of!all!

students!so!that!everybody!feels!welcome.!I!absolutely!

recommend!PE!to!everybody,!you!get!the!chance!to!

improve!your!English!language!but!you!also!get!a!unique!

possibility!to!stay!in!an!awesome!place!with!awesome!

people.!

I!thought!that!it!would!be!boring!because!it's!a!small!island!and!

no!activities!to!do!here!but!then!I!realized!that!it!was!a!really!

good!place!and!I!will!miss!this!place.!It's!the!greatest!three!

weeks!and!I!don't!want!to!go!home.!!

What(will(you(especially(remember?!A!lot!of!different!

things!happened!here.!There!are!different!beautiful!beaches,!a!

lot!of!activities...school!activities!like!the!cultural!night!in!which!

we!had!a!really!great!time.!I!can!say!that!everyday!is!a!special!

and!happy!day!and!also!a!new!experience!for!me.!!

What(do(you(think(of(your(teachers?#Teachers!who!

taught!me!became!my!friends,!and!lessons!aren't!boring.!It's!

not!too!strict!they!even!played!and!had!fun!with!us.!I!am!very!

happy!that!I!have!the!nicest!teachers!that!helped!me!in!

different!situations.!We!have!five!classes!a!day!and!these!five!

classes!are!very!different!from!one!another,!which!makes!it!

interesting.!!

teachers!loosened!up!and!socialized!as!friends.!Their!

visible!ease!contributed!to!several!funny!moments!the!

whole!evening!of!July!16,!2013!which!found!lovely!Teacher!Annie!and!the !dashing,!comical!French

speaking!student!Annis!from!Tunisia,!hosting!an!event!

that!will!be!fondly!cherished!by!both!students!and!staff!

for!these:!!

Cultural(Night(

This!event!showcased!the!talents!of!our!Summer!Camp!

students!from!Russia,!Taiwan,!China,!South!Korea,!and!

the!Philippines.!The!Russian!delegation!performed!the!

Kamarinskaya,!!a!traditional!Russian!folk!dance!to!the!

audiences!delight!and!demand!for!an!encore,!which!they!happily!obliged.!Students!from!Teacher!Ejeannes!

writing!class!also!acted!out!an!amusing!presentation!

based!on!a!script!Remember#Me...Pippitos!written!by!

the!students!themselves.!The!teachers!also!participated!

in!an!unplanned!dance!routine!which!drew!almost!

everyone!to!the!dance!floor.!
