PDMSS CARING COMMUNITY NEWS

Together we make a difference

Dear Family and Friends of PDMSS,

Our school library was filled with creative, imaginative,

and influential people throughout history as our second

graders put on their Living Wax Museum! All of the children

were so well prepared and ready to share what they had

learned about their chosen person in history with all of the

visitors. To the entire second grade class, Mrs. Johnson and

Ms. Hovest, and all the parents who helped their children

prepare for this special day, well done!

Our fifth grade students dazzled us as they performed in the Variety Show. This is an annual

event for our students who are leaving PDMSS and heading on to middle school and it is a barrel of

fun! The singing, bands, skits, video clips, every act was impressive. You are a very talented,

special group of students, fifth graders, we are all very proud of you and will miss you!

As always, pictures of these two special events are included in this newsletter, enjoy.

The school year is beginning to wind down and there are still special events to come! This

Friday is the annual fourth grade Gold Rush Play and a school-wide picnic. The picnic will take place

from 11:30 – 2:00 and all are welcome to attend. The details are included in the flyer below. We

begin next week with the always memorable fifth grade promotion and end our year with an end-

of-year assembly and the annual volleyball game between fifth graders and staff on Tuesday.

Speaking of memories, Mrs. Cooper will begin to distribute the yearbooks on Friday. Please

make sure that all of your child’s library books have been returned and all debts are cleared by

Friday. Thank you!

Now for a note about the summer, as I’m sure you are aware, there have been some

environmental concerns on the Juan Cabrillo Elementary School campus this year. In order to do a

thorough cleaning, the educational programs that were to take place at Juan Cabrillo during the

PDMSSsummer, have been moved to Webster Elementary. There is also a church, Calvary Chapel Malibu,

that meets on Sundays at Juan Cabrillo and PDMSS has been asked to host the congregation for the

summer. They will be using the auditorium and room 16 each Sunday from 8:00 – 1:30 beginning

June 15th and ending on August 10th. This will make PDMSS a busy place on the weekends but Iʼm sure youʼll agree that it is the neighborly thing to do! Please extend a warm PDMSS welcome to the congregation if you are here on a Sunday morning." On a personal note, this weekend has been a busy one with two retirement parties and varies family obligations so the newsletter is coming out a day late. My apologies. I hope you have enjoyed your weekend and are ready to end the year on a high note!

Remember…my door is always open!

With warm regards,

Rebecca JohnsonPrincipal

Dear Malibu Families,

The Malibu Elementary summer programs, including Summer Adventure, will be moving from Cabrillo to Webster this summer.  The District’s environmental testing company, Environ, will be conducting environmental testing and cleaning at Cabrillo, so moving to Webster allows summer programs to proceed without any interruptions to classes. If families that have signed up for Summer Adventure at Cabrillo do not want to attend the program at Webster, Summer Adventure will issue them a full refund (including the registration fee).  They will need to contact Chris Cullen, Summer Adventure Principal ([email protected], 310-457-9370, x78101).  Please contact Chris Cullen if you have any questions at (310) 457-9370 ext. 78101 or at [email protected]
