Ever-Forward….
During this time of transition, I thought it would be helpful to remind and informthe fellowship how we are continuing to move ever-forward.
In Prayer…
We had a terrific attendance at our monthly prayer day on Sunday. Thank you to the 50+ that were able to attend. Also, many thanks to the soupchefs that provided a warm, hearty meal. Our next time of prayer will beheld on Sunday, 11 September from 4:30 – 6:00 pm. I hope that you will
make it a priority to be a part of this special day of coming together asbelievers to pray.
In Building…
The new building is still on the horizon. In the past few weeks, there hasbeen helpful dialogue with our architect. As you can imagine, there areseveral small details that need to come together so we can move forwardwith the building. Our architect is assisting us to ensure that we are notmissing any steps. News of our progress will be shared with you shortly.Additionally, we are going to become more aggressive in advertising thesale our current building. Within the next two months, our goal is to havea strategy in place that will bring more attention to our property for a localand state-wide audience.
In Mission…
The Northern Territory work team is travelling well. They have had anadventurous couple of days to include: travelling many kilometers, aworship service with testimonials by three of the team, completedconstruction of the carport, some Secret Men’s Business, and a closeencounter with a Death Adder snake. Please keep the team in your prayersand we look forward to hearing their report soon after they return.
In Service and Ministry…
We continue to serve and minister to the people God places in our path.Loaves and Fishes, Lighthouse, CRE, BWF, Kids Hope, Silver Threads,Operation Christmas Child, Meals on Wheels, our aged care worshipservices at Seaview House and Glenelg Community Aged Care , PortlandCommunity Care Trailer, Sunday School, various Mission Supportopportunities, and Home Groups are just a sampling of ways were areactive the Portland community.
In Searching…
Our Pastor Search Committee is making great strides. Pray for them as they discern God’s will in the days ahead.
I am so thankful that our fellowship is committed to serve our Saviour. He hasalways provided for our needs and will continue to do so. Our God is an ever-forward God. And we shall be His ever-forward people.

“Blessed Are the Peacemakers” Bible SeminarBlessed Are the Peacemakers” Bible SeminarBlessed Are the Peacemakers” Bible Seminar Presented by St John’s Lutheran Church with representatives from
“Ambassadors of Reconciliation”“Ambassadors of Reconciliation”“Ambassadors of Reconciliation” Saturday 17th September, 9:30am-4:30pm, St John’s Lutheran Sch0ol
Unity Centre, Trangmar Street.
Ever experienced conflict in your life? Come and discover a healthy andbiblical way to resolve conflict!
Ambassadors of Reconciliation is an international organisation that helpsindividuals and groups discover healthy and biblical ways to resolveconflict.
The seminar is a full-day Bible study on reconciling relationships andresolving conflict. In this power-packed presentation, we will see howGod’s ministry of reconciliation is meant to be lived out in our daily lives. We’ll learn practical ways to resolve family, business, organisatio0n,church, and legal conflicts.
Since all children of God are called to be peacemakers, this Bible study isappropriate for every Christian. As Christians living in a sinful world, wefrequently address conflict with the world’s familiar ways of escaping or
attacking. When we do, relationships are damaged, businesses andcareers suffer and the witness of the church is weakened. There is abetter way!
You will be challenged to live, proclaim and cultivate lifestyles of reconciliation in the family, workplace, community and church.
Blessed are the Peacemakers seminar covers the following topics:
Understanding conflict from a scriptural viewpoint
Identifying worldly and godly responses to conflict
Three opportunities for the Christian in conflict
How to confess your faults without justification
How to forgive others as God forgave you How to achieve genuine reconciliation; and
How to negotiate in a God-pleasing manner.
The cost of attending the seminar is $5 per person. Attendees arerequested to bring a lunch to share.
To register your interest please take a flyer from the foyer (or downstairs on the piano) and complete and return the registration slip as indicated prior to 9th September.
