In heaven, Mary as Queen of heaven and earth has continued her role as our Mother. Through the ages, her love, her protection, her intercession have benefited mankind. It was her motherly solicitude which gave us the rosary.

In October 1916, an angel prepared the way for the Lady’s visits to Fatima, a small town of Portugal. Three little children, Jacinta, Francis and Lucy were tending sheep in a large hilly pasture. They stared speechless as a bright glow came

nearer. From the clear sky white petals began to fall, but they dissolved before they came within reach.

Our Lady appeared to the little shepherds. She stood over the oak tree. She held a rosary in her hand and told the children that she was the Lady of the Rosary. She spoke to them and taught them how to say the rosary and instructed them to spread its devotion, promising that many sinners would be converted and many graces obtained. They must continue to say the rosary devoutly every day.

Our Lady started that in October when she performed a miracle in Fatima so that all would believe. Ever since, the rosary has become the prayer primarily advocated not only in Fatima, but throughout the world.

The rosary is such a perfect prayer. It combines the most sublime of vocal prayers with meditation. Meditation is the

Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors (MCGC) Re-Commitment Ceremony. September 24, 2011 was a red-letter day for the Mass. most important part of the rosary as we contemplate on the mysteries of our Redemption. We fix our attention to the joyful mysteries, the luminous mysteries, the sorrowful mysteries or the glorious mysteries. It is by thinking of Christ: His joys, His works, His sorrows, His triumphs, that we begin to appreciate more what He has done for us, that we begin to love Him more and more and imitate Him more. We begin to understand, too, the role of Mary has played in our Redemption. The mysteries of the rosary bring us closer to Jesus and to Mary.

Our Lady loves the rosary. It is the prayer of the simple and the great. It honors God and our Lady in a very special way.

The message of our Mother, given to Jacinta, Francis and Lucy in 1916, is still an important message today – to avoid sin and to do penance, or terrible trials and sufferings will come upon the world. That was the Lady’s message at Fatima – penance, consecration and prayer.

Our Lady loves the Philippines. She still has many blessings to pour down upon her children, but she does want to be asked for them. Devotion, love and prayer will obtain countless blessings upon our country from our patroness, the Immaculate Conception.

Pray the rosary!

Lady VisitorBy Susan Amoroso

She has been known to bestow graces and protection on everyone who seeks her refuge. A very powerful politician and top government official has been said to visit her shrine regularly to seek guidance and protection from her political enemies. Yes, she is not only the patroness of the poor, the sick, neglected and the needy like the disabled Mang Teban who begs for a few coins in front of the Church or of Aling Juana who sells sampaguita. She is also the refuge of the rich, the powerful, and the celebrated personalities in and out of government and showbiz. Much has been said , read and talked about her. Indeed stories on her powerful intercessions are endless. The Lady I am referring to is Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag , also formally known as Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario de Manaoag. Her shrine is located in Manaoag , Pangasinan.

How lucky we parishioners are of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish (SAAP)! Our Lady will be with us for one week on October 4-10, 2011. A motorcade with cars waving blue and white balloons and flags will fetch her image from St. Anne Church in Taguig and will enter Bel-Air through Paseo de Roxas where the image will be prepared for procession at the BAVA Solar St. Soon after she will pass through Bel- Air 1,3, and 4, exit at Mars St., enter the main streets of Bel-Air 2 and San Miguel Village; enter Makati City Hall quadrangle; then pass thru Rizal Village and Santiago Village and is expected to arrive at SAAP before noon in time for the 12:15 mass. From day one there will be vigils every five in the afternnon till 9:00 in the evening. On Friday (Oct.7), rosaries will be distributed after each mass. Saturday, on the eve of her departure, there will be a motorcade from the Church to BAVA covered court where anointing of the sick and anticipated Holy Mass to be officiated by Monsignor Dennis Odiver will be held.

Celebrating St. Michael the Archangelby: Emilio Medina

On September 29, Thursday, Msgr. Denis Odiver offered the Mass in honor of the feast of St. Michael the Archangel. Msgr. Denins started his homily with the recruitment by Jesus of the apostles, Philip and Nathanael. Philip , a fisherman like Peter and Andrew, invited Nathanael (a.k.a. Bartholomew) to follow One foretold by Moses and the prophets--and he replied with reluctance, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” When finally face to face with Nathanael, Jesus said to him, “Here is a real Israelite; there is nothing false

in him.” Then Jesus refreshed his memory about what he said earlier about Nazareth. I saw you earlier today, standing under the fig tree. When Nathanael proclaimed, “You are the Son of God, the King of Israel,” Jesus predicted that greater things than this event would unfold in the future. “You will see heaven open up, and God’s angels going up and coming down on the Son of Man.”

The angels were created by God and share in God’s divine life. Angels are as real as God. One of them was called Lucifer, “the bearer of light.” He observed that in all creation, God favored man, even in his sinfulness. To get man back into God’s light, He decided to send His only Son to become man because of his deep love for humanity. Lucifer felt envy for this showing of love and interpreted this as a sign of weakness. Lucifer decided to himself that he was smarter than God, that He can rule in place of God. He led a rebellion which was crushed by Michael The Archangel, who fought on the side of God.

Another angel, Gabriel, deserves to be mentioned here. He proclaims the Good News. Like him, it is the duty of all Catholics to proclaim the gospel to everyone who can listen to God’s invitation to His kingdom. It is also part of this mission to make people aware that angels move among us, guiding us and giving us protection and whisper to us how to serve God in the light of grace. They guarantee protection against evil. They bring us nearer to God. They help us to live in holiness.
