INSTALLATION

Client Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.”

NOTE:• Be careful not to damage the paint finish.• This deck lid spoiler kit should be installed only if the

ambient air temperature is 15°C (60°F) or above.• Clean the areas to be covered.• To allow the adhesive to cure, do not wash the vehicle

for 24 hours. Make sure your client is aware of this.1. Open the trunk lid. Remove trunk floor cover.

8. Close the trunk lid. Attach the strips of masking tape to the trunk lid as shown.

9. Line up the template A to the trunk lid as shown, and attach it with masking tape.

10. Using a felt-tip pen, mark two points through the template A as shown. Remove the template A.

11. Turn the template A over, and repeat steps 9 and 10 on the right side of the trunk lid.

12. Using a center punch, punch the centers of the four marks. Set the center punch to the minimum power setting.

13. While wearing eye protection, drill four 8.5 mm holes at the marks with a 8.5 mm Rotabroach bit. Drill perpendicular to the trunk lid. Remove the masking tape attached in step 8.

14. Using a deburring tool, remove all burrs from the holes.NOTE: To ensure proper clip engagement, be sure to remove any metal shavings or burrs.

15. Apply touch-up paint to the edges of the holes and allow the touch-up paint to dry.


16. Line up the template B to the trunk lid as shown, and attach it with masking tape.

17. Using an alcohol swab, thoroughly clean the area where the trunk spoiler will attach. Be sure to allow the alcohol to fully dry before installing the spoiler.NOTE: Any oil or dirt remaining on the trunk lid will affect the performance of the adhesive tape, which could cause gaps or spoiler lifting.

18. Install the four seals to the four clip grommets.

19. Install the four clip grommets to the four holes on the trunk lid. NOTE: To confirm clip engagement, listen for the “click” sound during installation.

21. Peel back the adhesive backings, and tape the ends to the front surface of the trunk spoiler.

22. Remove the remaining adhesive backings.


23. Line up the trunk spoiler with the template B. Install the trunk spoiler to the four clip grommets with the four pins. Pushing the spoiler may be necessary to properly align it to template B.NOTE: To confirm clip engagement, listen for the “click” sound during installation. Using your hands, lift up on the clip area of the spoiler to confirm the clips are fully engaged.

28. While applying light pressure against the trunk spoiler, carefully remove the middle adhesive backings.

29. Using your hand, firmly press the trunk spoiler against the trunk lid for 30 seconds.

30. Using a rubber roller, apply firm pressure, especially at the ends, to set the adhesive. Remove the template B.

31. Open the trunk lid. Put on heavy gloves to protect your hands. Using a piece of rope, remove the left trunk spring as shown. Pull the rope slowly and carefully toward you.

NOTICE: The trunk lid may fall by its own weight when the trunk springs are removed, and can cause injury. When installing and removing the trunk springs, have an assistant hold the trunk lid open, or secure it open with a block, etc.

32. Remove the sponge and clip from the left trunk spring. Attach the sponge and clip to the new left trunk spring (marked yellow) as shown.

33. Install the new left trunk spring (marked yellow) in the reverse order of removal.

NOTICE: Be careful when installing the trunk spring as they repel with strong force and can cause injury.

34. Repeat steps 31 through 33 on the new right trunk spring (marked red).

35. Install all removed parts.
