Roux & Gumbo Need folks to open, stir, cut, and ladle. This process is ongoing every Friday and Sat-urday beginning August 11th until Festival Day. Raffle Sales Everyone can do this. Pick up a stack of tickets and sell to your friends and family. Moving & Set-up The day before the Festival yes, we move it all from the church and set it up at the park. Anyone with a means of transportation and a strong back is welcome and needed.

Shrimp Bagging We do this Thursday of Festival week. The title says it all.

Clean-Up Well of course we have to clean up our mess. The reverse of moving & set-up at the end of festival day. Dining Area Our customers can enjoy their meal lake-side under the pavilion. We have to keep our dining room neat, tidy and stocked. Desserts This is a job for everyone. Make your best homemade dessert for our patrons to enjoy after their meal. There are many more jobs to fill….we have a place for everyone!

¡Cómo anhelamos la paz en el mundo! Pareciera que cons-tantemente estamos rodeados de noticias de muerte y des-trucción, ya sea en nuestro país o en el extranjero. Las es-cuchamos y las lamentamos, tratamos de dar refugio a quienes escapan de la guerra y el crimen en sus países. Oramos por ellos y por nosotros, que el miedo no nos inva-da y nos haga hacer cosas necias o que nos aprovechemos de personas inocentes. Dios “anunciará la paz a las nacio-nes” (Zacarías 9:10). Podemos confiar en esta promesa de paz, si nos convertimos en personas pacificas nosotros mis-mos y no somos vengativos o dejamos que la ira profunda nos domine. “Ustedes no viven conforme al desorden egoís-ta del hombre, sino conforme al Espíritu” (Romanos 8:9).

Hija de una ma-dre Algonquina Cristiana y de un jefe Mohawk no cristiano, los padres de Kateri murieron en una epidemia de viruela que culpa ampliamente a los misioneros. Algunas veces carga-mos lo que parece ser una carga difícil, cargamos nuestra cruz. Pero quizá estemos cargando la cruz equivocada. Nuestra cruz, se nos promete, será suave y ligera. Pareciera que esto no es verdad cuando sufrimos la pérdida de un ser querido, quedamos desem-pleados, perdemos la casa o nuestro sustento. Pero si voltea-mos hacia Jesús, siempre encon-traremos el consuelo y amor bondadoso del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Los niños voltean hacia nosotros los adul-tos por consuelo y apoyo, pues

Dios ha “escondido estas cosas a los sabios y entendidos, y las ha revelado a la gente senci-lla” (Mateo 11:25). Podemos aprender de los niños acerca de nuestra dependencia en Dios. Y Jesús nos dice “tomen mi yugo sobre ustedes y apren-dan de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón” (Mateo 11:29). Una vez más, la humildad del Señor no revela arrogancia ni una falsa negación de su poder, sino que revela un reconocimien-to de su amor por nosotros.
