The readings this Sunday is profoundly positive pointing
us to the truth of the gospel message and call us to live it.
The wealthy woman recognizes that Elisha is a holy man
of God and so out of love for God chooses to provide a
room, a table, and a place for him to stay in comfort. This
is not something she needs to do but something she
wants to do for the Lord and Elisha. This is why Saint Paul
states that “consequently, you too must think of your-
selves as dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus.” In
living for God, we would be like that woman who saw
how to do good for Elisha and made it happen.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus challenges us to look at
the fundamental aspects of feminine spirituality and mas-
culine spirituality because God created us as both. If we
look at the traditional understanding of feminine spiritu-
ality, it is all about the Woman gathering father, mother,
children, and family together in the domestic context to
care for and nurture them. This is good; however, Jesus
challenges this notion perfecting it by explaining that we
are to first love him and then show divine love in the car-
ing for the family, which perfects feminine spirituality. In
the fundamental aspects of masculine spirituality, the
man goes out from the domestic home to labor for, and
protect, the family. This too is good; Jesus challenges the
human experience again and shows perfection through
the taking up of our daily labors each day for the glory of
God out of love for Jesus rather than simply sustaining
our human existence. Essentially, regardless of our femi-
nine or masculine experience, we are to love God with all
our heart mind and soul who revealed the divine through
the person of Jesus.
And then, Jesus continues; that those who live according
to the apostolic way, by receiving his grace and giving it
out into the world, perfect both masculine and feminine
spirituality in their lives. For as his church and bride, we
receive his body and blood from the Eucharist and are
sent into the world to share Christ’s presence in all that
we do. As his bride we receive his divine presence and as
his body we are to go into the world bearing witness to
the gospel truth. If we do this, we will receive the rewards
of Christ, the resurrection in eternity.

Las lecturas de este domingo son profundamente posi-
tivas y nos señalan la verdad del mensaje del evangelio y
nos llaman a vivirlo. La mujer rica reconoce que Eliseo es
un hombre santo de Dios y, por amor a Dios, elige pro-
porcionarle una habitación, una mesa y un lugar para que
él se sienta cómodo. Esto no es algo que necesita hacer,
sino algo que quiere hacer por el Señor y Eliseo. Es por
eso que San Pablo afirma que "en consecuencia, ustedes
también deben pensar en ustedes mismos como muertos
al pecado y viviendo para Dios en Cristo Jesús". Al vivir
para Dios, seríamos como esa mujer que vio cómo hacer
el bien a Eliseo y lo hizo posible.
En el Evangelio de Mateo, Jesús nos desafía a mirar los
aspectos fundamentales de la espiritualidad femenina y
la espiritualidad masculina porque Dios nos creó como
ambos. Si observamos la comprensión tradicional de la
espiritualidad femenina, se trata de que la Mujer reúna a
padre, madre, hijos y familia en el contexto doméstico
para cuidar y alimentar. Esto es bueno; sin embargo,
Jesús desafía esta noción perfeccionándola explicando
que primero debemos amarlo y luego mostrar amor
divino en el cuidado de la familia, que perfecciona la

We need volunteers to usher and clean the church after Mass. Per Diocesan guidelines, volunteers should be under the age of 65, in good health, physically able to do what is asked, friendly, and patient!
Greet/Usher - you will greet parishioners, ensure they have masks and they hand sanitize, guide parishioners to their pews (if needed)
Clean/Sanitize - you will sanitize the pews and specific surfaces/areas after Mass - supplies will be provided A mask should be worn during the time you are volunteer-ing.
If you are willing to volunteer, please check in with any one of the trained volunteers after Mass and he/she will gladly show you what to do.

Independence Day
On this upcoming Saturday, July 4th, our nation celebrates Independence. The declaration of Independ-ence was a bold move by the colonies to stand up against the most powerful nation of that time for liberty. Today, the desperation that those men and women felt seems so far removed from the life of modern society; however, the challenge has not changed. The basic premise of the declaration of independence is that “all men are created equal”. The authors clearly point out that by virtue of God’s power every human being has equal dignity regardless of status, wealth, power, race, sex, and age. This means that each person has a right to “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” unencumbered by those who represent the government. No public official or private citizen should gain preference, or punishment, if maintaining good living. Take some time this Independence celebration and read the “Declaration of Independence” or the “Constitution of the United States” and understand the importance of our nation to safeguard our right to have “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”. Does our nation maintain just laws so that every person can pursue these rights? Do we ensure the unborn the right to live when supporting “Pro-choice” legislation? Do we ensure the right of liberty when supporting legislation banning smoking, large soft drinks, and incandescent light bulbs; or when legislation forces individuals, companies, and institution to pay for health services which violates moral conscience? Do we ensure the pursuit of Happiness when we fund and support cul-tures, societies, and nations which oppress and restrict women, men, and religion; where a young girl is shot in the head because she dared to advocate education for women? Where in Boko Haram we are rightly outraged by the kidnapping of over 200 girls from their school and the less well known fact the kidnappings of over 1,000 boys were killed and some even burned alive. Why were girls kidnapped and boys killed? Was it not to send a message that education and freedom is not welcome? Is it legitimate that father is arrested for playing ball in the park with is daughter or hair salon owner is jailed operating her business while mobs are allowed to loot and burn in our major cities during the pandemic? The challenges to freedom have the same magnitude as they did on that first proclamation of Independence. Are you willing to stand for moral values of Freedom and justice as our Forefathers did now in our generation? Blessings, Fr Luke Jauregui

2nd year Confirmation: Be sure to turn in your Saint report and Schedule your interview ASAP, if you have not done so.

Sacraments that were postponed because of the Corona Virus
will be celebrated starting this month. English and Span-
ish First Communion classes are completing preparations
and the celebrations are being scheduled. All celebrations
will adhere to the directives for crowd sizes and social
distancing. Parents will be notified when the dates are
firmly set. In addition, RCIA candidates are in the pro-
cess of scheduling celebration dates with Fr. Luke.
