Data
Giving our data to someone else is like selling out the university…

Data
So we need an on-promise solution!

PC/Mac: Usability depending on the client version / implementation.
Laptop: Difficulty for our users. Some are using WebAFS.
Tablet: Bad integration. Only way is WebAFS - but it’s pain!

Reasons for ownCloud1. The Clients
– Desktop clients for Linux, Windows and MacOS X – Mobile clients for Android and iOS – Easy to use even for not experienced users – Installation Wizards with only few questions !
2. The Server(s) – Based on well known standards (LAMP) – We had an idea how this could scale up to 40.000 users !
3. OpenSource and the community – It can be integrated into our environment – We can contribute extensions – Any problems? Google for it, ask the community or look into the code

Conclusion– ownCloud is an important tool for the TU Berlin
• which is provided to every university member • and use it to store valuable knowledge in !
– We love it because of • its ease to use (the user-interfaces) • its scalability (works great for more than 6000 users) • its openness (we can extend and integrate it) !
– Now we start to host ownCloud for other universities !!
Thank you for writing, extending and maintaining ownCloud!
