WORLD RECORD FOR MOHAIRHistory was made by Cape Mohair & Wool, the largest mohair broker in the world, on their last auction of the 2013 mohair summer selling-season in Port Elizabeth. According to Pierre van der Vyver, General Manager of the mohair department at CMW, three bales of kid mohair presented on the auction are recognised by all in the know as the best summer kid mohair ever and had the whole mohair industry in a buzz in the week before the auction. The auction results exceeded all expectations when the first of the three bales was sold for R601/kg and the other two for R560/kg each. The producers of the record-breaking bale are Billy and Fred Colborne from Willowmore, who also set the previous record of R425/kg, during 2009. The other two bales were presented by Charles Fitzhenry from Aberdeen and Piet Viljoen from Kleinpoort in the vicinity of Uitenhage and Jansenville.

Competition in the public, open-cry sale was fierce throughout, with all the international buying houses competing. However, Gerrit Fourie from the Stucken Group had the last say when he bought all three bales, with Andrew Laing of the Samil Group the second-highest bidder on all three bales. In total more than 700 bales were auctioned. All three of the record-breaking bales will now be entered for the competition for the best bale of kid-mohair world-wide which is sponsored by the internationally renowned fashion house of Ermenegildo Zegna. It is more than likely that one of these three bales will be the winner. Zegna also sponsors the annual international competition for the best bale of wool and cashmere.

OVK NOU AGENTSKAP VIR CLAASOVK-groep wil graag waarde tot elk van sy kliënte se boerderye toevoeg en het ’n ooreenkoms met Claas gesluit om die agentskappe in die Hopetown- en Cradock-gebied te bedryf. Karl-Heinz Meyer, streek-bestuurder vir Claas, Duitsland, is positief dat hul samewerking met Claas hul markaandeel in Suid-Afrika te verhoog.

Die graan-afdeling in Hopetown het op 7 Mei ’n baie geslaagde vonkelwyn-ontbyt met Dawie Roodt, bekende ekonoom, as spreker aangebied.

Die dag is deur sowat 150 boere en personeellede bygewoon. Baie geluk aan Hopetown-graan vir die aanbied van ’n goeie funksie!

OVK GRAAN SE HOPETOWN-TAK BIED VONKELWYN-ONTBYT AAN

Vir meer besonderhede oor Claas se nuutste produkreeks, kontak gerus vir PIETER DE WIT by 082 309 8704 (Hopetown) en JOHAN HOON 082 386 5777 (Cradock).

OVK-groep het twee bekendstellingsdae in Hopetown op 20 Junie asook in Cradock op 27 Junie aangebied om Claas se wye produkreeks aan kliënte te demon-streer. Die dae het ook praktiese wenke aan ongeveer 90 boere by beide dae ingesluit.

Wouter en Retha Heyns van Cradock was die wenners van ‘n toer na Claas se fabrieke in Duitsland en Frankryk. Die wenners tydens die bekendstelling te Hopetown was Jaco en Rianda Marais van De Aar.

Ten einde aan die kliënt se verwagtinge te voldoen en die installeringspro-ses te vereenvoudig, stel C.R.I. (met ervaring van vyf dekades in die pomp-bedryf), ’n kompakte dompelpompstel genaamd die Maksistel in die MK reeks bekend. Dit is ’n eerste in sy soort. Die reeks is beperk en bestaan uit modelle wat hoofsaaklik geskik is vir laedruk-toepassings tot en met 50 m met ’n maksimum vloei van 3,5m3/h.

HOW TO PLANT A POLE?

Poles intended for planting in the ground must be purchased at

required lengths. Never plant a cross-cut end of a treated pole or post into the ground as this will

expose the untreated heartwood to fungal and termite attack resulting in

premature failure.

CROSS CUT ENDSAll machining, cutting or drilling of preservative treated timber should

be done prior to preservative impregnation. Areas exposed after impregnation due to cross-cutting etc., must be treated by liberally applying a suitable paint-on or

brush-on remedial or supplemental preservative (excluding ground

contact).

Nuwe spoorelement-inligting wat die af gelope twee dekades na vore gekom het, behoort die dierepro-duksie-wêreld opnuut te laat ken nis neem van die onontbeerlike rol wat spoorelemente in produksie- en re -pro duksie prosesse by herkouers speel.

Droogtes en omgewingstres-toe-stande lei tot finansiële verliese vir die boer, maar dit kan beperk word indien die noodsaaklike bestuur sak-sies vroegtydig geneem word, soos vroegtydige aanvulling van nood -saak like minerale en vita mie ne. Die minerale speel ook ’n uiters belang-rike rol in die instand hou ding van die dier se weerstand (immuniteit) teen siektes, veral in stres volle tye.

Deur die stres en omgewingsin vloe -de in gedagte te hou en die regte voor komende aksies te neem, kan die ne gatiewe uitwerking op jou diere in ’n groot mate beperk word.

Dus, met die hoër produksie-mik-pun te (met herkouers wat geneties so ge teel is), is dit vandag meer as in die verlede absoluut noodsaaklik dat die spoor element-aanvulling van her kouers uiters doeltreffend in die prak tyk “GEDOEN” moet

word. Spoor elemente moet in lekke en voer ingesluit word om aan die diere se daag likse spoorelement-behoeftes te vol doen. Dit is egter belangrik om te onthou dat die dier in kritieke tye ekstra spoorelemen te gebruik en die behoefte is dus hoër.

Daarom is die aanvulling met in spuit-bare spoorelemente soos Multi min net voor die kritieke tye baie be lang-rik. Die werking is sinergisties met die lekke en voer om die spoor element-status van die dier te opti mali seer om die finale resultaat, naam lik ekono-miese doeltref fend heid (R/C), suk-ses vol te maak. Hoër bruto inkomste van hoër konsepsie, kalf/lam- en speen persentasies is aan die orde van die dag! Onthou dus om u vee-arts of dieregesondheid-adviseur te kon tak vir advies oor hoe om die tyd van die jaar te benader.

Die gebruik van Multimin, die ge-pa ten teerde inspuitbare minerale aanvul lings produk wat reeds 21 jaar op die mark is met bewese weten-skap like resultate, tesame met vitA, word aan beveel tydens die droë perio des van swak voedings asook in kri tieke tye.
