Our Coaches Our Junior Section is run by a team of coaches & volunteers. Coaches hold current coaching
qualifications and receive regular training in First Aid &
Safeguarding.
All coaches & volunteers are DBS checked and receive specific
training required for their roles. Many are experienced hockey players themselves playing in
senior teams.

Equipment & Protection We have a supply of hockey sticks for players to borrow if they don’t have their own stick.
All players are required to wear shin pads and mouth guards in all training sessions and games. Make the most of the special discount from the local dentist below.
We encourage children to wear protective gloves as a minimum on their left hand (preferably on both hands).
We would strongly suggest children who need to wear glasses to train/play wear sports goggles.

Goalkeeper training will be held monthly if there is
enough interest. Please inform the Junior Co-ordinator if your child
would like to try keeper training. The club has several junior keeper
kits which can be used by any player who would like to train or
play in goal.
Training in goal doesn’t mean you have to play in goal for fixtures.
We encourage players to try a session in goal if they are
interested.
Playing shirts The club has team shirts for playing matches. However, there are opportunities to buy your own shirt from our kit supplier - Kukri, although we need 10 or more to place an order. If you would like to purchase a shirt please speak with the Junior Co-ordinator.
Lymm Hockey Socks Club socks are available in a range of sizes and can be bought from the Junior Co ordinator. We often have a supply of socks at Sunday training.
Lymm Hockey Club Leisure Wear To keep warm our club leisure wear can be purchased from O’Neills. See our website for the link to the O’Neills club shop.
“I had not played hockey before,
but I went to the summer camp
with my friend. It was fun
playing in the tournament.”
Back to Hockey If you have enjoyed watching your son or daughter playing and you would like to pick up a stick yourself, look out for
our ‘Back to Hockey' sessions. No previous experience
required.

We encourage U8s to play in our internal tournaments held in December, March/April and June/July. This provides a good step into game
play opportunities in the older age groups.

Coaches & Volunteers Run by volunteers the junior section has: • 6 coaches • 14 parent/youth coaching helpers • a growing support team
The chart on the left shows all our hockey heroes, but as you can see we need more help to ensure we can fulfil all our fixtures and keep training running efficiently. In particular we need: • more parent managers • help with registration and training
fee collection
The roles are not daunting and can be shared if desired. We all have busy lives but helping can involve something once a year or just an hour a week. Your help will be much appreciated by the the coaching team & the junior players.
We also encourage our youth players (yr 9 and above) to help coach younger players and umpire junior games.
If you or your child would like to help please contact the Junior Co-ordinator.
