New Zealand’s first Plug-In Hybrid SUV.

The Outlander range, and driving in general, has just taken

a huge leap forward. Introducing the Mitsubishi Outlander

Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle. It’s the first of its kind

in New Zealand, or anywhere in the world. It’s the clever

combination of the all-electric i-MiEV, the rally-honoured

4WD Lancer Evolution and the legendary off-road ability

of the Pajero. Plug-In Hybrid delivers the same exceptional

comfort, refinement and safety as other Outlanders, but

with unprecedented economy and emissions. For technology,

innovation and any other way you look at it, it’s just better.

Three energy sources.

Your Plug-In Hybrid has a high-capacity battery located under the floor,

which lowers the centre of gravity to reduce body roll and improve safety

without compromise on SUV functionality. Coupled with front and rear motors

the Electric Vehicle cruising range is greatly extended and contributes to

responsive 4WD performance and instant torque. The 2.0L engine is designed

to generate electricity and act in perfect harmony for peaceful motoring.

Know your Plug-In Hybrid.

The Outlander petrol and diesel range already has exceptional

economy figures, but the Outlander Plug-In Hybrid is in a class

beyond all others. It combines environmental performance

and the quietness of an electric vehicle, while delivering the

utility and performance associated with SUVs. You also enjoy

the cruising range of a conventional internal combustion

engine powered vehicle.

Mitsubishi Motors has bought together its most advanced

engineering and technological resources to create a superior

and environmentally friendly vehicle specifically designed for

New Zealand life. There’s no more practical and comfortable

way to drastically reduce your fuel bills without compromising

on range, luxury, safety, dependability or the go-wherever-

you-want-ease of an SUV.

Get behind the wheel of an Outlander Plug-In Hybrid today

and experience the next level of driving.

Go further for less.

The new Outlander Plug-In Hybrid SUV brings you fuel efficiency like

you’ve never experienced before in a SUV.

Thanks to the combination of a highly efficient 2.0L MIVEC petrol

engine, two high output 60kW twin front and rear motors and

a high capacity 12kWh battery, you’ll clock up a tiny 1.9L/100km*.

So not only is this great on the pocket, it’s also great on the

environment, as you’ll only produce 44g/km* of emissions.

For shorter urban driving trips of 38km*** a day, you can drive

almost entirely in Electric Vehicle Mode. That means ZERO fuel

and ZERO emissions. Plug in overnight and you’ll also benefit

from off-peak electricity costs. On average it will cost you as

little as $1.41** to charge your Outlander Plug-In Hybrid.

*ADR81/O2 Test Procedure

** According to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) advised off-peak rate of 15c/kwh as of April 2014.

***EECA advised daily average commute.

Switching to 4WD drive lock mode distributes

torque and limits wheel spin to improve

traction and straight line stability on snow,

dirt and other slippery road surfaces.

4WD LOCKFLEXIBILITY THROUGHOUT

Whatever combination

of passengers and luggage

you need to carry,

Outlander Plug-In Hybrid

can accommodate, thanks

to the 60:40 split rear seats.

If you need more cargo space,

simply fold flat the rear seats

for an impressive 1,685mm of

very useable room.

SERIOUS CARGO SPACE

Utilizing 4WD technology forged by the

Lancer Evolution, the S-AWC regulates the

brakes and distributes power to the front

and rear wheels, as well as the left and

right wheels, to improve driving stability

and handling precision in the most

challenging terrain.

Improved layout,

a slimline battery

and rear-positioned

fuel tank means

minimal difference

in the passenger and

cargo room, so you’ll

continue to enjoy

that same generous

Outlander cabin.

Electric Vehicle Drive Mode is an all-electric mode in which the front and rear motors

drive the vehicle using only electricity from the battery. With zero on-road petrol

consumption and zero CO2 emissions, you can enjoy quiet and exceptionally

eco-friendly performance.

In Parallel Hybrid Mode the petrol engine provides most of the motive power, assisted

by the electric motors as required. The system switches to this mode for higher-speed

driving where the petrol engine operates at peak efficiency.

In Series Hybrid Mode the petrol engine operates as a generator, supplying electricity

to the electric motors. The system switches to this mode when the remaining charge in

the battery falls below a predetermined level and when additional power is required,

such as accelerating to pass a vehicle or for driving up a steep incline.

Whichever angle an impact is encountered, there’s an airbag to

counter its effects. Driver and passenger-side SRS airbags, side

and curtain SRS airbags, and a driver-side SRS kneebag all come

as standard and protect occupants throughout the vehicle.

You can be sure that every aspect of the rally-tested Outlander

Plug-In Hybrid has been carefully engineered to protect both

occupants and the environment. A waterproof casing around the

battery and a special undercoating has been specifically designed

for tough SUV driving conditions, while the rigid construction is

sufficient to even block electromagnetic waves.

ACOUSTIC VEHICLE ALERTING SYSTEMS

Warning tone function alerts pedestrians

near the vehicle when driving with the

engine off (because the vehicle runs so

quietly). The alarm has a different pitch

depending on vehicle speed.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (VRX)

WARNING

OBSTACLETWO-STAGE BRAKING

FORWARD COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM NEW LEVELS OF QUIETNESS

The Plug-In Hybrid cabin is exceptionally quiet, thanks

to 4mm soundproof glass, new flat wiper blades

that cut down on wind noise and damping materials

covering more of the under floor. Additional sound

absorbing and insulating materials in the engine

compartment, wheel housing and other key areas

reduce noise and increase the feeling of refinement.

The same great safety.

Outlander Plug-In Hybrid has all the same levels

of safety as its petrol and diesel counterparts,

including the impressive Mitsubishi-Assist which

ensures maximum safety in many driving scenarios.

(Mitsubishi-Assist, VRX only)

Now, when the vehicle in front alters

its speed, so does your cruise control.

A radar mounted in the grille matches

Outlander Plug-In Hybrid’s cruise control

speed to whatever you’re following,

with appropriate adjustments of brake

or accelerator.

Radar is used to identify obstructions

ahead and warn of a potential collision.

If the risk remains, this system applies

the breaks to mitigate a collision (VRX).

BATTERY SAVE MODE

Battery Save Mode reduces battery power

usage. Drivers can manually select Hybrid

Vehicle drive mode to preserve remaining

drive battery power. Saving battery power

during driving allows longer Electric

Vehicle driving when needed (such as

in quiet residential neighbourhoods).

BATTERY CHARGE MODE

The engine continuously charges

the battery up to a level of 80%,

even when the vehicle is idling.

Increasing battery power allows

increased performance when

towing & hill climbing.

COLLISION ABSORBING JOINTS FINANCE

Paying cash is just one of the ways to purchase a Mitsubishi. There is

a range of finance options that make ownership easier – you should

explore them with your Mitsubishi Motors dealer.

For example, leasing helps spread the impact of a big capital purchase

and provides protection against depreciation costs.

The ways Mitsubishi lease packages can be tailored are virtually

limitless. You can spread or delay payments to suit your situation.

One option is the Operating Lease, particularly suitable for businesses,

where your rental is effectively the monthly payment.

Leasing means you don’t have a depreciating asset and you can

keep upgrading regularly without having to worry about selling used

vehicles. Visit www.financemitsubishi.co.nz for a full range of finance
