We are not. Do youthink t hat an office in an ugly oldbuilding truly reflects the size, community spirit and buyingpower of Narberth's citizens? Certainly not.Out in Wahoola, Wisconsin, population 678, t her e m ay beerected a $250,000 marble edifice to serve the postal needs of afew hog farme rs. Here int he E as t the post offices usuallyhave to show cold cash before improvements are granted.Narberth is a second-class office, with city delivery. That issomething in the w ay o f a starter. That start was obtained becausethere were lots of stamps soldhere, because residents were careful to do their postal purchasingat home. There is, though, much r oomfor improvement. A new or improved office, more clerks andcarriers, aut o d el iv er y service, quicker despatch-are all possibleif the business justifies it.Let's all get our shoulders tothe wheel to get the office o ut o fthat gloomy and inadequate hole. The owner has jumped therent onth e t wo stores which were justvacated next door, and i n a y ea r,when the lease expires, will probabJ.r appear at the gratedwindows?nd extend an itching palm in thed;rection of Mr. Nesper. Now is the t ime to prepare, notfor increased rent, but f or a n a de quate office.Buy all your stamps, stampedenvelopes. cards, etc. , a t t he localpost office. Several Narberth people, sending for the coats, have discovered them to bevirtually worthless, bearing no resemblance to the sample of cloth submitted."What can I do to get my money back?" asks the victim. "Must I throw thesethings away?"

All of us here in Narberth are on Sucker Lists. For the past few weeks."Blind" men have been s e n d i n ~ five ..cent neckties through the mails at a dollar orso for three or four. Another firm in the West, whose name is designed to re..semble that of a reputable rubber company, has been soliciting orders for raincoats.

Surely. If the purchases had beenmade of a Narberth busines man, a mis ..represented article would have been made good, but mail purchases are always agamble, and an expensive one. Don't be a "sucker."

But themail is also to be blamed for one of America's evils...... the SuckerList. The Sucker List is the term applied to any list of names circularized throughthe mail for the purpose of prying the prospective victim loose from a bit of hard..earned money.
