Monday 15 th September 2014 Dear parents and carers, As this is the last newsletter for term 3 I thought you would like to know about some things that have been happening behind the scenes. Although out garden expert, Megan Halcroft has taken up other work her legacy lives on, with students now working on the next stage of the garden, our bush tucker and Aboriginal heritage sections. We now have a dry creek bed, some native flowering and bush tucker garden areas have been started, the native bee area is now well-defined and the cultural walk is also ready. Once these areas are established we will work on the Pacific Islander vegetable garden and cultural area. The Library is finally open, after the devastating flood. We have purchased replacement books, with more orders on the way. Our Library roof will be replaced soon, and stormwater drains will be flushed out in the holidays, so hopefully we won’t be flooded again. If you are looking for something special to do in the holidays the University of Western Sydney is offering two free workshops for 9-12 year olds. Please see the advertisements at the end of this newsletter for more information. As this is the last newsletter for term 3 we will soon take a well-earned two week break. For those of you who are travelling in the holidays I wish you a safe journey and for everyone else, I hope the weather is warm and you find time to relax and regenerate before the start of the busiest term of the year. We have purchased replacement books, with more orders on the way. What does our school attendance look like now?

The bar represents 100%. The shading represents what our school percentage for attendance is now, after 140 days of school (90%)

Girls percentage = 90% Boys percentage =89.5%

Kindergarten = 86.4% Year 3 = 91.9%

Year 1 = 89% Year 4 = 95.7%

Year 2 = 91.2% Year 5 = 92.3%

Year 6 = 92.1%

How can we get our attendance back up to the mid 90s?

As the number of school days increases, if the number of absences decreases we will raise our school attendance again.
