Third Sunday of Easter

““Journeying with Jesus”

The account of the journey of Cleopas and another disciple to

Emmaus on the evening of the resurrec�on of Jesus is one of the

most popular and drama�c stories of the Gospel of Luke. It is

found only in Luke. The disciples are discouraged by what has

happened and in their disappointment; they set out on a journey.

A stranger joins them. Gradually he helps them to understand, in

the light of the Scriptures, the meaning of the events they have

witnessed. The breaking of the bread by the stranger allows them

to see that Jesus has really risen. The news is so good that they

feel they must share it with the other disciples. There is no �me

to waste. From being sad and disillusioned they become joyful

enthusias�c missionaries of the risen Lord.

The journey of the two disciples on the way to and from Emmaus

helps us enter an early celebra�on of the Eucharist. Their

conversa�on on the road is like the Liturgy of the Word in which

they confronted their understanding of the Messiah with God’s

(Luke 24:16-27). Then came the Liturgy of the Eucharist as they

broke bread with the stranger. It is the combina�on of both

Word and Eucharist that opened their eyes.

REFLEXION DOMINICAL "Viajando con Jesús"

El relato del viaje de Cleofás y otro discípulo de Emaús en la

tarde de la resurrección de Jesús es una de las historias más

populares y dramáticas del Evangelio de Lucas. Se encuentra

sólo en Lucas. Los discípulos están desalentados por lo que ha

sucedido y por su decepción; Emprendieron un viaje. Un extraño

se les une. Poco a poco les ayuda a comprender, a la luz de las

Escrituras, el significado de los acontecimientos que han

presenciado. El rompimiento del pan por parte del extraño les

permite ver que Jesús realmente ha resucitado. La noticia es tan

buena que sienten que deben compartirla con los otros

discípulos. No hay tiempo que perder. De tristeza y desilusión se

convierten en felices y entusiasmados misioneros del Señor

resucitado.

El viaje de los dos discípulos en el camino hacia y desde Emaús

nos ayuda a entrar en una celebración temprana de la Eucaristía.

Su conversación en el camino es como la Liturgia de la Palabra

en la que confrontaron su entendimiento del Mesías con el de

Dios (Lucas 24: 16-27). Luego vino la Liturgia de la Eucaristía

cuando rompieron el pan con el extraño. Es la combinación de la

Palabra y la Eucaristía lo que les abrió los ojos.

Inscripción para Formación de Fe: Todos los niños que han

asistido a Formación de Fe este año deben volver a inscribirse para

el próximo año. Las niños que no han estado en el programa deben

ser registrados para 1º grado al 8º grado. Los niños deben asistir a

1º grado para recibir Reconciliación y Comunión en el 2º grado.

La inscripción se llevará a cabo en el Salón Parroquial del 30 de

abril al 14 de mayo. Las cuotas deben ser pagadas el primer día

de clase.

Knight of Columbus 100 Club Tickets will be for sale after Mass in Rosary Hall. Just 100 will be available at $25 each and are good for all 12 monthly drawings. Two numbers will be drawn each month with a first prize of $75 and second $25. All proceeds will go to charity.

The Life Giving Cross: The Faith Formation children’s Lenten

project is displayed in Rosary Hall. The children said a total of
