WHY DO WE DO THAT? - CATHOLIC LIFE EXPLAINED

Question: My friend has never heard of Christ and I want to share the Gospel with her but I'm afraid to. How do I share my faith?

Answer: There are a lot of ways to bring up the topic of religion,

without being judgmental or pushy. Begin by asking what her thoughts are about religion, or what her experience was growing up. Finding common ground is often easier than you think, because the questions and problems we have about God, the presence of evil, our purpose in life, and our relationship with God are universal concerns.

Why are you afraid? If you do not want to insult or offend someone, don't be pushy or judgmental. If you are uncer-tain about how to explain your own faith, do a little reading or practice with a friend. If you measure success only by this person converting, focus your attention more on begin-ning the conversation, not on bringing it to a perfect close! Faith is a journey of many acts of belief, many discussions about God, and many choices about how we practice what we preach. In some we will have great success; in others we will need forgiveness and perseverance. The most im-portant thing to keep in mind is that the Holy Spirit is al-ways at work and our most humble efforts can bear great fruit. Have faith in God because he has faith in you!

¿POR QUÉ HACEMOS ESTO? - EXPLICACION VIDA CATÓLICA

Pregunta: Mi amiga nunca ha oído hablar de Cristo y quiero compartir el Evangelio con ella, pero no se. ¿Cómo compartir-mi fe?

Respuesta: Hay muchas maneras de abordar el tema de la religión, sin ser crítico o agresivo. Comience por preguntar cuáles son sus pensamientos acerca de la religión o cuál fue su experiencia al crecer. Encontrar un terreno común a menudo es más fácil de lo que piensas, porque las preguntas y los pro-blemas que tenemos sobre Dios, la presencia del mal, nuestro propósito en la vida y nuestra relación con Dios son preocupa-ciones universales.

¿Por que tienes miedo? Si no quieres insultar u ofender a al-guien, no seas agresivo ni crítico. Si no está seguro de cómo explicar tu propia fe, lea un poco o practique con un amigo. Midees el éxito solo por la conversión de esta persona, ¡centre su atención más en comenzar la conversación, no en cerrarla por completo! La fe es un viaje de muchos actos de fe, mu-chas discusiones sobre Dios y muchas opciones sobre cómo practicamos lo que predicamos. En algunos tendremos gran éxito; en otros necesitaremos perdón y perseverancia. Lo más importante es tener en cuenta que el Espíritu Santo siempre está trabajando y nuestros esfuerzos más humildes pueden dar grandes frutos. ¡Ten fe en Dios porque él tiene fe en ti!

¿Cómo manejas el estrés?

El estrés viene en muchas formas. Puede ser desencadenado por co-sas buenas y felices como un nuevo trabajo, casarse, el nacimiento de un niño, empacar para las vacaciones o mudarse a un nuevo ho-gar. Y también puede desencadenarse por dificultades y sufrimiento como la muerte de un ser querido, la pérdida del trabajo, problemas conyugales, enfermedades, problemas financieros, sueños no cumpli-dos, la lista continúa. También existe el estrés cotidiano que te hace sentir agotado, abrumado, disperso y agravado. HAGA MENOS: Examine su vida. ¿Estás haciendo demasiado? ¿Hay algo que pueda dejar ir: actividades, compromisos, planes, tareas? Quitar cosas de tu plato puede ser difícil, pero incluso si solo es una cosa, tu carga será más ligera. PRIORIZA TU SALUD ENCUENTRA UN ESPACIO SAGRADO RESPIRAR TOME UN POCO DE TE EXTIENDE LA MANO Y TOCA A ALGUIEN EN SU CORAZON TRABAJA CON TUS MANOS PLAY MUSIC: Hace tiempo que se estableció que la música afecta nuestro estado de ánimo y nuestros pensamientos, por lo que es una forma efectiva de controlar el estrés. Escuchar música, especialmente música clásica lenta, puede relajar la mente y el cuerpo y elevar tu espíritu. Considera hacer una lista de reproducción con música rela-jante para la próxima vez que necesites desestresarse. Entonces, la próxima vez que te sientas abrumado por algo en tu vida, prueba algunos de estos factores que desestimulan el estrés. Le ayudarán a manejar y enfrentar mejor el estrés inevitable que se pre-senta en su camino.

LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD DIARIA - RECONOCER A DIOS EN LOS MOMENTOS ORDINARIOS

Si me pides que te cuente acerca de uno de mis hijos, mi hija, o mi esposa, podría pasar mucho tiempo hablando de ellos como individuos y de mis interacciones con ellos a través de los años. Una relación autentica nos lleva a todos hacia un conocimiento profundo uno del otro. Si tengo poco que decir de alguien, que no sea información acci-dental o chisme, no puedo decir que lo conozco bien. Claro, en todas las relaciones hay expectativas. Si no sa-bemos las necesidades del otro o las respuestas esperadas de una relación, podemos fácilmente crear una división y separación. Hago ciertas cosas para mis hijos porque soy un padre. Respondo en ciertas maneras a mi esposa de-pendiendo de sus necesidades. Si actuó de manera incon-sciente, o no me importa, la relación seguirá hacia un camino de dolor, de daños, y en algunas instancias, de sep-aración permanente. Conocer a Jesús es amar a Jesús, lo importante es conocer-lo. Conocerlo es escuchar a sus palabras y seguir sus man-damientos. Como en todas las relaciones a veces short no alcanzamos a cumplir las expectativas. Sin embargo, como sabemos podemos compensar las expectativas y continuar creciendo juntos. Y si yo te pidiera que me contaras sobre ese amigo tuyo que se llama Jesús, qué dirías?

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS

If you ask me to tell you about one of my sons, my daughter, or my wife, I could spend quite some time elab-orating on them as individuals and my interactions with them throughout the years. An authentic relationship leads each party into a rich knowledge of the other. If I have little to say about someone other than some inci-dental information or gossip, I cannot claim to really know him or her. Indeed, every relationship has expectations. If we do not know the needs of the other or the responses expected in living out the relationship, we easily create division and separation. I do certain things for my children because I am a parent. I respond in certain ways to my wife based upon her needs. If I am oblivious, or just don't care, the relationship will move on a path toward hurt, pain, and in some instances, permanent separation. To know Jesus is to love Jesus. The key is you actually have to know him. Knowing him is listening to his words and keeping his commands. Just like in all relationships, we will fall short at times. However, because we know the expectations we can then make amends and continue to grow together. So if I asked you to tell me about this friend of yours named Jesus, what would you say?

How do you manage stress?

Stress comes in many forms. It can be triggered by good and happy things like a new job, getting married, the birth of a child, packing for vacation, or moving to a new home. And it can also be triggered by hardship and suffering like the death of a loved one, job loss, marital problems, illness, fi-nancial woes, unfulfilled dreams—the list goes on. There’s also the regular, everyday stresses that leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, scattered, and aggravated. DO LESS: Examine your life. Are you doing too much? Is there anything you can let go of — activities, commitments, plans, tasks? Taking things off your plate can be hard, but even if it’s just one thing your load will be lighter.

PRIORITIZE YOUR HELATH FIND A SACRED SPACE BREATHE POUR SOME TEA REACH OUT AND TOUCH SOMEONE WORK WITH YOUR HANDS PLAY MUSIC: It’s long been established that music affects our mood and thoughts, so it’s an effective way to manage stress. Listening to music—especially slow, classical music—can relax your mind and body and lift your spirit. Consider making a playlist with calming music for the next time you need to de-stress.

So the next time you’re feel overwhelmed by something in your life, try some of these stress-busters. They will help you to better manage and cope the inevitable stress that come your way.

GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE

"Why do questions arise in your hearts?" After the Res-urrection, the Apostles experienced their fair share of incredulity. Jesus had died-John had been there-and now the tomb was empty. What should they believe? Was the Jesus before them truly real? And who was Je-sus really? It's no surprise that the Apostles were initial-ly "startled and terrified" to the extent that they "thought that they were seeing a ghost." Jesus has compassion on his confused friends. Once he affirms his non-ghostly identity-"look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself"-Jesus gets down to business. He has risen from the dead, but life would not continue as normal. Throughout Jesus' ministry, he spoke in par-ables and veiled prophetic language. His followers like-ly thought much of his words were metaphors, some symbolism for the person and their relation to God. Now Jesus has something else in mind. He "opened their minds to understand the scriptures," making known the connections between his own words and deeds and "everything written about [him] in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms." Why now? Why this increased depth of understanding? The answer lies in the shifting role of the Apostles. "You are witnesses of these things." The treasury of truth is no longer Jesus' responsibility alone but our own. Then and there, the Apostles are appointed to pro-claim the death and resurrection of Jesus, the for-giveness of sins and the mercy of God. This message is no longer only for the Jewish people but "all the na-tions." This is our invitation! We have the rich heritage of the Church's teaching. By sacramental grace, God's "peace" is "with [us]." We, too, are sent to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ and the hope that belongs to his call.

MEDITACIÓN DEL EVANGÉLIO - ALENTAR ENTENDIMIENTO MÁS PROFUNDO DE LA ESCRITURA

Cada año, los tres primeros do-mingos del Tiempo de Pascua el Evangelio trata de las apariciones de Jesús resucitado a sus discípulos. Hoy a pesar de estar en el ciclo B que es propio de San Marcos la lectura es tomada de Lucas y es conti-nuación del relato de Emaús. Fijémonos, en los acontecimientos y la forma evangelizadora del Se-ñor. Saludo de paz, el susto y el miedo de los pre-sentes es notorio, las dudas de algunos de ellos, el soplo del espíritu, la misión confiada y llevar la Bue-na Nueva a todos. La misión entonces y ahora es: ser testigos de su resurrección. Todos los elementos da-dos ayudan a entender el Misterio Pascual. Nuestra oración debe ser pedirle con fervor al Señor que nos ayude a abrir el entendimiento, para que como nos dice el Papa Francisco de verdad ser auténticos dis-cípulos misioneros de Jesucristo. Reflexionemos, en el siguiente pasaje de la Sagrada Escritura. "Entonces les abrió la mente para que en-tendieran las Escrituras, les dijo: los padecimientos del Mesías y su resurrección de entre los muertos al tercer día". (Lucas 24:45). ¡Que concreto es Jesús en guiar a sus discípulos en la experiencia de su resu-rrección! En este pasaje busca a sus discípulos en el lugar concreto, les invita a toquen su cuerpo resuci-tado, come con ellos pescado asado y una porción de miel. Les pregunta el porqué se desconciertan. En el hoy de la Iglesia y como bautizado. ¿Qué te descon-cierta de Jesús? ¿Comprendes el porqué de sus acti-tudes? El viene a nosotros en el lugar que nos encon-tramos, el nos toca con su perdón y nos invita a su mesa en la Eucaristía. ¡Aleluya!

VIVIR LA LITURGIA - INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA

¿Por qué estas preocupado? La vida se puede llevar lo mejor de nosotros. Las ansiedades, preocupaciones, dudas, e inquietudes son algunas cosas que perturban nuestros co-razones. Muchas veces nos preocupamos con cosas tempo-rales. A veces nuestra fe nos perturba y nos preguntamos dónde puede estar Dios. Si dejamos que Jesús abra nuestras mentes para que podamos entender las escrituras y el sig-nificado de su Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección, podemos empezar a confiar en que el plan de Dios incluye algo mu-cho mas de lo que nos preocupa momentáneamente, Jesús puede entonces ser una luz de revelación, que nos ayuda a vivir con perspectiva y perseverancia.

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

Why are you troubled? Life can easily get the best of us. Anxiety, worry, doubt, and uneasiness are just some of the things that can trouble our hearts. Often we are trou-bled about temporal things. Sometimes our faith troubles us and we wonder where God may be. If we allow Jesus to open our minds so we can understand the Scriptures and the significance of his passion, death, and resurrec-tion, we can begin to trust that God's plan includes some-thing much more than the current concern of our minds. Jesus can then become a light of revelation who helps us keep our lives in perspective and persevere.
