There will be more discussion about these incidents in the weeks to come, but for now I would like to remind you about the need to be involved in the battle against evil on the spiritual plane. One good resource for this is my book Praying the Rosary for Spiritual Warfare.Copies are available from the parish office. It is also good to pray the prayer to St Michael. St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Finally, remember that the Blessed Virgin Mary assists us in the battles against evil. The Memorare is a simple way of living under the mantle of Marys maternal care for us - a beautiful way to start every day, to recall that the Enemy is already van- quished, and to live in holiness by grace through faith in the one who is both Son of God and Son of Mary: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen. Your Pastor, Fr. August 19, 2018 Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Brothers and Sisters, For Catholics this has been a “summer of shame”. Sordid details of Cardinal Theodore McCarrick’s behavior and a damning report from Pennsylvania on historic sexual abuse accusations have made all Catholics aware of the real spiritual battles all of us, by virtue of our baptism, are engaged in. There will be more discussion about these incidents in the weeks to come, but for now I would like to remind you about the need to be involved in the battle against evil on the spiritual plane. Finally, remember that the Blessed Virgin Mary assists us in the battles against evil. Mother Teresa House

We have enjoyed having Jantavia and Jaquierra with us at Mother Teresa House this summer. Shown here are the girls being tutored in math by Rita, our MTH volunteer. We will miss them when school starts next week.

Peer counseling in both "Managing Your Diabetes" and "Managing Your Weight" is now available by appointment at MTH. A one-on-one counseling session can now be scheduled with a new volunteer at MTH, who is himself a lifelong diabetic and has worked diligently on ways to control both his diabetes and his weight. If you are interested in a session with Ralph, please call 412-7101 and choose Option 2 to leave your name and number. A volunteer will call you back to schedule your appointment.

CATHOLIC RADIO in South Carolina's Radiothon broadcast will air on Thursday & Friday, Sep. 27-28. The theme is "Our Lady of Good Help," in honor of the Shrine in Champion, Wisconsin dedicated to the first and only Marian Apparitions in the United States approved by the Catholic Church.

In 1859, Our Lady told Adele Brise to, "Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation." Adele devoted the rest of her life to this task. Catholic Radio in South Carolina will present her story and subsequent establishment of the Shrine.

Please listen to this special broadcast on WCKI 1300 AM Greer, WLTQ 730 AM Charleston, through the TuneIn App (search for wcki), by dialing (712) 832-2674 on any phone, or on our website: www.CatholicRadioInSC.com.

ATTENTION: 8th GRADE PARENTS

Confirmation Preparation begins in 8th grade at Our Lady of the Rosary. A very important component of the program is attendance at the “Real Love & Real Life” program presented by Family Honor.

This is a three-evening series which will be held September 24, October 1, and 8, from 6:45pm-9:00pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Greenville. Parents attend with their child.

Registration for “Real Love & Real Life” is now open. Please go to https://familyhonor.org/programs/find-a-family-honor-program-near-you/ and register for the program being held at St. Joseph’s.

Additional information about Confirmation preparation will be available at the beginning of the school year, but we wanted to get this information out early because of the September start date. Please see below for more information about the program. If you have any questions about Confirmation preparation, please contact Katie Orbon, Director of Faith Formation at [email protected] or 864-422-1648.

BEYOND SUNDAY

8-Week Study

Countless Catholics settle for a faith that doesn't go farther than the Sunday Mass. While essential, dedicating one hour of our lives to Sunday Mass alone won't satisfy our deep longing for more. In order to grow in relationship with God and find purpose and meaning, we must integrate our faith into our lives daily.

Beginning Monday, September 17, we will be offering an 8-week program designed to help us live our faith beyond Sunday in our everyday life with a community of people seeking growth in faith alongside us. Each week provides prayers, reflection questions, a holy habits challenge, and the story of an inspirational person or saint.

We will meet on Monday afternoons from 1:30pm-2:30pm in the Lower Church. The cost will be approximately $25 per person for the book Beyond Sunday and the companion study guide.

Please contact Katie Orbon, Director of Faith Formation for more information or to register:[email protected] or 864-422-1648.

The next meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be held in the Parish Center on

Sunday, October 14, at 9 am.

RETROUVAILLE A LIFE LINE FOR MARRIED COUPLES

Without attention and care, marriages wither and eventually die. Is your previously loving marriage tearing the two of you apart?

Have thoughts or words of separation or divorce entered your life? We’ve been helping couples rebuild a loving relationship since 1977.

Next Retrouvaille Weekend is Sep. 14-16, 2018 in Augusta, Ga.

Why Become Catholic?

The RCIA program at Our Lady of the Rosary is based on informal conversations about faith and God, as well as the rich, dynamic and informative program, Symbolon. RCIA helps people prepare for initiation into the Catholic Church by exploring questions of Scripture, Teaching, Prayer, Liturgy, and Life.

An informational meeting will be on Wednesday, Sep. 12, at 7pm in Old Church.

For more information, please contact Katie Orbon, Dir. of Faith Formation at [email protected] or 864-422-1648.

“That Man is You”

Coming soon . . . becoming a man after God’s own heart.

Starting Wednesday nights in September

After 30 years of serving the community, St. Anthony’s Catholic Store is closing its doors. We will be having a storewide clearance sale while supplies last.

While we are sad to close our doors, we look forward to the doors that God will be opening for us and our family. The friendships that were formed during our time here will forever be cherished in our hearts and you will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless, The Bruce Family

Memorial Service for Aborted Children

On Saturday, September 8th (Our Blessed Mother’s Birthday), pro-life Americans throughout the country will gather at the gravesites of aborted babies and other memorial sites dedicated in their honor for the sixth annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children.

Solemn vigils will be held at these sites to commemorate the more than 59 million children who have lost their lives to legal abortion since 1973, and to remind our society of the humanity of the unborn child. Please join us for the memorial service at Our Lady of the Rosary:

Event: National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children When: Saturday, September 8th, after Saturday Vigil Mass (around 6:30 PM) Where: Memorial to Lost Children on the Hill
