From Father Jim’s Desk ... Basket Raffle Thank you!

Sunday’s outdoor Basket Raffle was a wonderful day and a great success! With beautiful weather and a tremendous collection of baskets we couldn’t ask for more. We want to take this time to deeply thank everyone who contributed to making this day so special and successful for our par-

ish community! We would like to thank the Dixonville Moose club and all other donors for their financial support. Many thanks to all of those who helped to prepare and volunteer their time and energy for this day, whether it was tent set up, preparing and organizing the baskets, making and posting signs, refresh-ments, sanitizing stations and all things in between. A special thank you to all those who donated baskets and those who contributed many other essential items of importance! Your creativity and generosity is amazing! The financial results of the day will be in the next bulletin after all expenses have been received. Thank you all so much!

Faith Formation classes will begin this fall. We are working on specific details and will be in contact with parents as soon as possible.

TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - AUGUST 16, 2020 PAGE 4

Behind the Scene with the Buildings and Grounds Committee

It’s time to update everyone on the status of the project funds for each parish site and contrast that with an esti-mate of the costs needed to complete projects.

CLYMER: $1700 estimate Project Fund: $12,752 Painting supplies, 2X4’s to build shelves, electrical supplies, plumbing supplies, etc. Miscellaneous: Weather stripping- all doors (on order), handrail for Rectory basement steps, ceiling repair (Confessional and small garage), replacement carpet (well-worn and fraying) for both porches of Rectory Note: Up to $1700) has been approved for the projects to proceed, starting on the workday and beyond. Additionally, structural issues have been identified by more than one person: walls in the front of the church are breaking away, the corner of the rectory has loose bricks, and there is a drainage problem between the church and rectory. Consideration is being given to hiring an architect for advice on this and also handicap accessibility at Rossiter.

ERNEST: $2500 estimate Project Fund: $4,345 Less $ 599.29 for contracts awarded for repair of gazebo and bell tower (work underway, lumber needed) Paint and supplies to paint the basement floor; change all bulbs – inside and outside - to LED; light pole, light and mortar to secure the pole; painting side entrance; signage to keep trucks off the parking lot NOTES: Bids were also obtained for tree removal and trimming – lowest bid is $1500, which is included in the above estimate. Bids are also needed for scraping and painting the outside window sills at the church. A gener-ous parishioner has purchased the supplies needed to repair the ceiling in the basement – everything is there and this project is on the to-do list.

GLEN CAMPBELL: $1000 estimate Project Fund: $7,312 New light pole and light, change all lights to LED; bid needed for replacement of 2 broken windows in church hall (replacement windows are already purchased.)

HEILWOOD: $3000 estimate Project Fund: $10,010 Work on garage (fill cracks and paint); change all lights to LED ($1480 estimated for tubes and bulbs alone); fire-place ignitor in rectory; tile for basement ceiling; stain for shed and second coat on deck; repair lights in living room and dining room in rectory; entrance mat replacement on front side entrance to church

CAMERON’S BOTTOM: $125 estimate Paint and supplies for entrances (landings, steps and door frames) Note: Roof replacement on church is needed. The rectory and picnic grounds need attention, too. Contacts have been made for bids.

ROSSITER: $1500 estimate Project Fund: $7,229 Paint the vent and change lights to LED **Note for the ladies: Do you have some old curtains sitting around? We need your expertise to finish concealing the furnaces in the church basement in Rossiter. The dividers are up, but this additional touch would go a long way in sprucing the place up! Anyone able to step up and do this project or perhaps provide some curtains? Thank you. NOTE: A contractor has agreed to remove the radiators from the nave of the church in return for a donation re-ceipt for the labor involved. Additional funds (included above) will be needed to purchase supplies to fix that area – the removal is planned for September or October and hopefully a volunteer crew can step in for the repair. In addition, handicap accessibility is still under discussion and several options have been discussed.

>>>>>TOTAL ESTIMATE: approximately $10,000 for all sites<<<<<

As we all know, there is ALWAYS something to be done around the house, and that includes God’s house too! And we want to say, THANK YOU for your support via prayers, your donations to the project funds and any time you can spend helping out with the projects!
