I try to be Christ- like in school, at home, in my community, and at Church. In school, I respect everyone. Once, a student struggled when called on to an- swer a question, and somebody laughed, which caused others to laugh as well. It wasnt nice or fair, and definitely not something that Jesus would do. I asked them to stop. Here I am Lord, I come to do your will. There are many ways to help the community. One way I enjoy helping is by doing fundraisers. Once, we were raising money to build a new bridge on the Outlet Trail. I signed up and paid money to be in a coloring contest. We raised enough money to build the bridge. Once, I stayed up until twelve oclock to see the ball drop on New Years Eve, and I still prayed before going to bed. You can talk to the Lord about any- thing. You can even thank him for just being alive! Everything on this Earth is a blessing. You should do your best everywhere you go, in anything you do! Of course sometimes youll make mistakes, because everyone does, but just ask the Lord for forgiveness. Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.In Church, I sing all the songs and receive the Eucharist. God gave us every- thing he has, and we give him only one hour a week. We should make sure that it counts! Instead of just watching Mass and going to it, you should take part in it. You should get Communion if you can. Maybe you can be an altar server! You could ask your priest if he has anyone to present him with the Gifts or Eu- charist. I am an altar server. That means I serve the priest before, during, and after masses. On Good Friday, it can also mean carrying the incense. Incense is like ash or smoke that is carried through the church while the priest tosses it all around in the air. It has a very strong smell to it. But it is easy to ignore the smell when you remember that youre doing it for God. Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.Remember to always do what God would want you to do. Always do what Je- sus expects you to do. The Holy Spirit will always guide you. Here I am Lord, I will always try to do your will.Kherington McLoud Edited to note: The OLOL Catholic Daughters are proud to announce that Kheringtons essay has been selected as the Winner of the 2019 National Education Contest (Division 1) Please congratulate this young lady on her amazing achievement! 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time 9-15-2019 Weekend Mass Schedule St. Patrick's (StP) N. Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Community

The Catholic Courier in August had an article on Kherington McLoud’s winning essay. Kherington is now a fifth grade student at St. Michael’s School & her words are appropriate as we hear about Stewardship this weekend.

“Here I am Lord, I Come to do Your Will”

“Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.” This means that wherever you are, whatever it is you are doing, you should try to be like Jesus. I try to be Christ-like in school, at home, in my community, and at Church.

In school, I respect everyone. Once, a student struggled when called on to an-swer a question, and somebody laughed, which caused others to laugh as well. It wasn’t nice or fair, and definitely not something that Jesus would do. I asked them to stop. “Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.”

There are many ways to help the community. One way I enjoy helping is by doing fundraisers. Once, we were raising money to build a new bridge on the Outlet Trail. I signed up and paid money to be in a coloring contest. We raised enough money to build the bridge. It is very important to work with your com-munity, to make it safe and welcoming to all who live there and visit. “Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.”

At home, I pray to God every night before bed to thank him for a wonderful day. Once, I stayed up until twelve o’clock to see the ball drop on New Year’s Eve, and I still prayed before going to bed. You can talk to the Lord about any-thing. You can even thank him for just being alive! Everything on this Earth is a blessing. You should do your best everywhere you go, in anything you do! Of course sometimes you’ll make mistakes, because everyone does, but just ask the Lord for forgiveness. “Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.”

In Church, I sing all the songs and receive the Eucharist. God gave us every-thing he has, and we give him only one hour a week. We should make sure that it counts! Instead of just watching Mass and going to it, you should take part in it. You should get Communion if you can. Maybe you can be an altar server! You could ask your priest if he has anyone to present him with the Gifts or Eu-charist. I am an altar server. That means I serve the priest before, during, and after masses. On Good Friday, it can also mean carrying the incense. Incense is like ash or smoke that is carried through the church while the priest tosses it all around in the air. It has a very strong smell to it. But it is easy to ignore the smell when you remember that you’re doing it for God. “Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.”

Remember to always do what God would want you to do. Always do what Je-sus expects you to do. The Holy Spirit will always guide you. “Here I am Lord, I will always try to do your will.”

Kherington McLoud Edited to note: The OLOL Catholic Daughters are proud to announce that Kherington’s essay has been selected as the Winner of the 2019 National Education Contest (Division 1) Please congratulate this young lady on her amazing achievement!

Schlappi. We look forward to sharing our updated kitch-en with the various committees and groups that meet in the Parish building.

Most people have their share of their family resources. This means cloths, food, sports equipment, games, books, & shelter. But most of all possessions mean money. But the trouble with us is that we are not natu-rally generous. Nobody is - at first. If we are to begin to share what we have, we must be motivated to give. We must learn to give proportionally, regularly.
