SCHEDULES CLERGY SACRAMENTS

The Reign of God

Saint John Paul II, during the year 2002, made a change in the praying of the Rosary. He added the

Luminous Mysteries to fill in the gap between the Joyful and the Sorrowful Mysteries. The Luminous

Mysteries focus on the public ministry of Christ, especially in His preaching about the Kingdom of God. The preaching about God’s kingdom is the central theme of Jesus’ mission and is continued by

the Church. The understanding that we have regarding the kingdom of God is all about heaven and

eternal life. However, there is more to that because God’s kingdom is not only heaven but also God’s

presence here on earth.

The Church in which we belong is already the Kingdom of God on earth. Through the proclamation of

the Scriptures, the reception of the Sacraments and the real presence of Christ among us is already the

evidence of His kingdom. Even though the world is not perfect, and humanity commits sin, this kingdom exists because God will never abandon us, especially those who will commit their lives in

the service of the Church. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches in parables, for us to understand the mystery of

the Kingdom of God. A mystery, yet already a reality for those who love Him.

Let us continue praying that all people may experience God’s kingdom here on earth.
