Holyday of Obligation
Mass 12:00 Noon & 6:00 PM
The Church Office will be closed on August 15th to
observe the holyday.
Laudetur Jesus Christus!/Praised be Jesus Christ! The Gospel of today’s Mass recounts for us the experience of St. Peter walking on the water toward Jesus in the midst of the tempest and how when he realized what was happening around him lost focus on the Lord and promptly began to sink. It is important to remember that St. Peter stayed on his feet – even when facing the greatest difficulties, as long as he acted with supernatural outlook, with faith, with confidence in the Lord. Later, in order to stay afloat, to receive God’s help, he had to cooperate, because as St. John Chrysostom reminds us, “when our cooperation is lacking divine help also ceases.” It was Our Lord who helped St. Peter to go on. St. Peter recovered his faith and confidence in Our Lord. He climbed aboard the boat with Him, and at that moment the wind ceased and calm was restored to the seas and to the hearts of the disciples. They recognized Jesus as their Lord and God. Those who were in the boat worshipped Him, saying, “Truly, You are the Son of God!” The experience of our personal weakness will serve for us to find Jesus who puts out His hand and enters our heart, giving us great peace in the midst of any trial. We should learn never to be afraid of God, who presents Himself in ordinary things, as well as in the physical or moral sufferings we may experience in our lives. Jesus says to us, “have confidence; it is I, do not fear.” God never delays coming to our rescue, and never fails to remedy every need. He arrives at times in a hidden and mysterious way, at the opportune time. And when, for whatever reason, we find ourselves in a difficult situation, with the wind against us, He comes close to us. He may pass as if to continue on so that we will call out to Him, but He will not delay in coming to our side when we do. If at times we realize that we are out of our depth, that we are sinking, we should repeat with St. Peter, “Lord, save me!” We should neither doubt His Love nor His merciful hand. We should not forget that, in the words of St. Augustine, “God does not demand the impossible. Instead, when He makes a request, He asks that we do what we can do, that we ask for what we cannot do and for His help to carry it out.” God love you all!
Just a few reminders: The school elevator upgrade is almost completed. At present the elevator is not in service but will return to service in the next few days. Also, the two entry points for the school (Entry #1-Main School entrance, and Entry #2-Gym hallway) are switching to card entry only. All unauthorized keys which have been floating around for years will no longer be operational. All groups who are authorized to use school facilities must meet with Olivia Henson to request a key card. The Blessing and Re-dedication of the New School will take place next Sunday, August 17th at 1:00 PM. All are invited to gather first in the Church in order to give thanks to God for the successful completion of this project. We will then process to the front of the school for the blessing and re-dedication ceremony. All are invited to attend and to gather in the Church beginning at 12:45PM on Sunday, August 17th. Oremus pro invicem/Let us pray for each other!

Many couples headed for divorce have successfully saved their marriages by attending. Retrouvaille is not a spiritual retreat, not a sensitivity group, not a seminar, not a social gathering. For confidential information or to apply to attend the program beginning with a weekend on September 12th,call 800-470-2230 or email: [email protected] or visit the web site at www.retrouvaille.org.

Sunday, August 17th at 1:00 PM Our Lady of Grace School
Please join us for a Blessing/Re-Dedication and Ribbon Cutting
for our new school building.
Our parish has faithfully supported this new endeavor with prayers, time, talent and resources.
What a blessing it is to celebrate this accomplishment together!
Tours of the new school building will be offered during this time.
