OCS-G 8154/8155 OIL SPILL TRAJECTORY ANALYSIS

In the event a sp i l l occurs from High Island Area Blocks 261/262, our company has projected t r a j ec to r y of a s p i l l u t i l i z i n g information in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for OCS Lease Sales 123 and 125.

The EIS contains o i l s p i l l t ra jec tory simulations using seasonal surface cur ren ts coupled with wind data, adjusted every 3 hours for 30 days or u n t i l a target is contacted.

Hypot*- ' . i 1 sp i l l t r a j ec to r i es were simulated for each of the potent ia l l«unci. ; across the en t i r e Gulf. These simulations presume 500 s p i l l s occurring in each o f the four seasons oi" the yea»*. The resul ts in the EIS were presented as probab i l i t ies that an o i l s p i l l beginning from a p a r t i c u l a r launch s i te would contact a cer ta in land segment wi th in 3, 10, o r 30 days. U t i l i z i ng the summary of the t ra jec to ry analysis ( fo r 10 days) , the probable projected land f a l l of an o i l s p i l l from High Island Area Blocks 261/262 are as fo l lows. Also l i s t e d is the CGA Map Number corresponding to the land segment which w i l l be u t i l i z e d to determine environmental ly sensitive areas that may be affected by a s p i l l .
