Before the launch of YouTube in 2005, there were few easy methods available for ordinary computer users who wanted to post videos online. Youtube has changed the way people social and interact with each other, and most noticebly it has launched many peoples careers people have been discovered through Youtube some of the most famous people we know have been discovered from youtube, for example singers like  " charice pempengco", Esmee Denters, not only singers have found true fame and careers from youtube makeup artist  Lauren Luke her videos have been watched more than 31 million times A brief BBC interview with Luke for a local Tyneside news programme has been seen by more than 2.2 million people, becoming one of the most viewed BBC clips on YouTube worldwide. Later this year Nintendo is launching a new game for its DS console in which the main character is an avatar of Luke.In March a major New York cosmetics company will launch Luke's own global makeup line. "It is entirely possible," says the YouTube spokesman Ollie Rickman, "that she is the most viewed makeup artist in the world. These are just small examples of how popular youtube and these are just some of the ways the audience benefits because they can upload there own home made videos and they can also keep up with the latest music videos.

 

Negatives

Although youtube is one of the most popular websites in the media industry, it does have its negative sides people have the freedom to post up any video they like which could lead to people uploading videos that discriminate and the problem is youtube does not censure every single video online becuase there is to many of them. Also one thing to notice is a lot of musci videos are posted up on youtube and viewers can leave comments bad or good but its became a come trend that people have started, swearing and writting hatefull messeages to each other when someone does like agree with an artists music for example i am a Beyonce fan but i have noticed each time i go view one of her videos there is always people leaving comments that are negetative for example her new song with Lady Gaga " video phone" people dont like the fact that they have collaborated because both females musical styles are way to different its like fans of both artists spend there time on the internet hating each other just because someone stated an opion about Beyonce or Lady Gaga, they have lost the importance of it all when people go on youtube is so that they can enjoy watching their favourite video but instead people are busy starting cebor wars. The video so far since its release it has had " 357,526 views and half of these views are due to the fact people will be sending messeges back and forth to each other about how much they dont like the artist or how much they dislike the song and the rest will be watching the video just because they are true fans below is an example of a youtuber comment about the video/song/artists.

Youtube has became sought of like a place where people can say things about other people because they know they can get away with it. YouTube has also faced criticism over the offensive content in some of its videos. Although YouTube's terms of service forbid the uploading of material likely to be considered inappropriate, YouTube does not check every video before it goes online. Controversial areas for videos have included Holocaust denial and the Hillsborough Disaster , in which 96 football fans from Liverpool  were crushed to death in 1989, conspiracy theories and religion; despite all this youtube relys on its users to flag any inappropriate content.

They can post up video of themselves making jokes, reinvernting famous music videos for example 2009s sensation has became Beyonce's video/song "Single ladies" millions of people have made their own version of the videos dance routine, in just less than a year of its release it has had 8,397,793 views The song gained popularity for its catchy hook and theme of female empowerment, and it was ranked 1 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the Best 100 Singles of 2008, The choreography-driven video achieved great success, prompting a legion of imitations became known for starting the first major dance craze of the millennium and of the Internet it has had a huge cultural impact and just like a first solo single " crazy in love" it has become two of her most famous videos ever. Channel 4 puts shows on YouTube

Broadcaster Channel 4 is to put entire programmes on YouTube free of charge.

 

Channel Five and Channel 4 has signed a deal with youtube, under the deal Channel 4 will make its 4OD catch-up service fully available on YouTube's UK.  

Under the three-year deal, each company will take a share of revenues from any advertising sold around the programmes on YouTube.

Channel 4 was the first UK broadcaster to launch a video on demand service in late 2006, and was also the first to sell advertising around TV content online. Channel five has also signed a deal with YouTube to put many of its programmes on the Google-owned video sharing website. They will appear online shortly after transmission and can be viewed free of charge, with revenues from pre- and mid-roll advertising shared by Five and Google.It comes as YouTube attempts to raise the profile of its offering of full-length TV programmes, in the recently launched Shows area of its website. Five will sell all the advertising that runs in its programmes on YouTube. Typically, ads appear where breaks would have been during broadcast transmission, but only two at a time.

These ads cost three to four times more than their broadcast equivalents, he said, reflecting their "much more engaged, lean-forward" nature, with users encouraged to click through from them.

Five is also going to use YouTube to engage with fans of its shows in new ways, including offering UK residents the chance to audition via YouTube for a guest role on Neighbours.
