processing of horticultural produce

· Processing of horticultural produce

· Packaging, Market ing and Qual i ty standards of horticultural produce

Registration:Faculties, Scientists, Staff and Students of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri and other Agricultural Universities, KVK SMS, Food processing Institutes/Organizations and Food proces s ing exper t s f rom Agr i cu l ture Departments are eligible to register and are requested to take advantage of the online training course during this lock down time.The online training will be available to 100 registered eligible candidates (50 candidates of MPKV, Rahuri and 50 candidates of other Agricultural Universities)

Instructions:· Participants need to register by clicking on

the link below and should provide an active email id and WhatsApp number for further communication.

· List of selected participants will be displayed on May 08, 2020 at www.mpkv-caast.ac.in

· Daily lectures through on-line platform will be conducted along with online discussions and tutorials.

· Certificates will be issued to those who will complete a l l on l ine se s s ions and assignments/tutorials.

· Full on campus advanced training on different aspects may be conducted after lockdown period is over at appropriate time and preference will be given to those who participate in this course.

Background:

Under changing global scenario and conscious

approach, the quality, competitive pricing,

environmental sustainability are the key

elements of agricultural production system.

With a view to focus the attention on handling

and processing; and to tackle specific areas to

arrive at practical recommendations, scientific

e f for t s shou ld be made to deve lop

technologies for horticultural crops. There is

need to develop protocol for post harvest

handling of those crops which includes

harvesting, sorting, grading, packaging etc.,

which could be very remunerative. Several by-

products are very popular from those

horticultural crops but needs to be explored

commercially. Strengthened of handling and

processing research and establishment of

processing unit at different locations will serve

the training purpose and encourage the youth

to come forward to be an entrepreneurs in

processing industries.

With this view, one week online training

course on “Smart Handling and Processing

Systems of Horticultural Produce” is being

organized by CAAST-CSAWM, MPKV, Rahuri

from May 09-14, 2020 daily through online

mode.

Objectives:

· To create awareness about losses during entire horticultural produce handling system

· To make aware the participants about post harvest processing and value addition

· To maintain food safety and quality standards of horticultural products

· To make aware participants about packaging methods, marketing strategies and export strategies.
