At 10.00pm, 12th

September 1989

Something unusualhappened!

Page 2: On that night

On that night…

It was pitch dark and the onlykerosene lamp had slept for thesecond time!

I woke up to hear the sound of mymother tapping and calling mefrom behind: Mone (son), wake up!Wake up! And the moment I wokeup, my mother turned away!

As I thought about it, my heart beat started pouncing!

Page 3: On that night

Infact…

It was something unusual for myMother to have turned her face awayfrom me! And I sniffed somethingdismally wrong!

And the more I thought about it, my heart continued to beat more frantically!

Page 4: On that night

I could hear…

The women folks murmuring to eachother.…soon, some unclear and brokenvoices emerging out of the semi-darkcorners – ‘I am alone’, ‘God help me’!‘Give me strength’.

As I couldn’t reason it out, I continue to be disturbed

Page 5: On that night

I got up…

and screamed in urgency,What’s the matter? Why haveyou woken me up? What’s thatpeople are talking about?

I kept asking – but nobodyanswered!.

And the more I thought about it, my heart continued to beat more frantically!

Page 6: On that night

I stepped out…

to wash my face! And I couldhear the more clearer andconnected voices – weeping, screaming and howling.

I muttered to myself, the mostinevitable thing had happened.

And the more I thought about it, my heart continued to beat more frantically!

Page 7: On that night

I was reminded of…

“Every soul shall experience the Taste of Death”…

And the more I thought about it, my blood oozed out of blood vessels

Page 8: On that night

I realize that…

My neighbor and childhoodfriend had given up his battle forlife!

Bappu, the 6th child of his parents, and smartest of them all had been

suffering from throat cancer for almost two years now!

And the more I thought about it, my blood oozed out of my blood vessels

Page 9: On that night

My lips went in silence…

To Allah we belong and toHimwe shall return

Page 10: On that night

In a fraction of a second…

my mind went through the life we had spend together… playing football, swimming, running and riding the worn out cycle tires and what not…

Everything seems to have had an abrupt end.

Page 11: On that night

I could see…

The fear among the familiar and non-familiar faces.

My hands were trembling when I touched him last.

Page 12: On that night

Think about…

The Day and Time, when your relative, your intimate friends announcing your last day in this world.

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 13: On that night

Just echo it…

We regret to you inform you that Mr <Your Name> has passed away this morning and his Janaza prayer will be held at Masjid-E-UmarKhattab around 3PM.

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 14: On that night

Just think about…

The bath your neighbors, friends and relatives will extend to you. The last bath of your life in this world!

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 15: On that night

Imagine the day…

You are carried on the shoulders of your friends and well wishers! To your home –your permanent home!

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 16: On that night

Imagine…

The time when you are lowered to the 6 feet down hole there under the surface earth – your home until judgment day

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 17: On that night

It’s too narrow…

You are ALONE... it's tooDARK... you cry for help, butthere is no answer... Nobodycan help you… your bones aresquashed.

You can hear the footsteps ofthe angels coming to you forquestioning your faith!

The Messenger of Allah said, "When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their footsteps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask him three questions? Saheeh: Al-Bukhaaree (2/422),

Page 18: On that night

Imagine the moment…

When people say …

We created you from it (the earth), and to it we shall restore you; and from it we will bring you forth yet a second time.

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 19: On that night

You regret all the bad thingsyou've done during your life...

You are ALONE in your grave only withyour DEEDS.. No MONEY, NoJEWELRIES, nothing. ONLY YOURDEEDS.

Rasulullah said, 'If you are made to listen to the punishment in the grave, you will stop burying your deceased.' (Tirmidhi)

Page 20: On that night

You feel like…

SCREAMING and tellingEVERYONE not to go. To STAYbeside your GRAVE. But you knowwhat happens, everyone walksaway.

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 21: On that night

You thought…

you would last forever in thisWorld. You thought, you will staywith your Friends and Familiesforever. You thought you willhave fun forever…

…NoYou were Wrong

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 22: On that night

And when it’s shut…

You feel like SCREAMING and telling EVERYONE not to go.. To STAY beside your GRAVE

But…

you can’t be heard. They leaveyou and go & you hear theirfootsteps. And hear themcrying as they walk away.

Just ask yourself – am I prepared?

Page 23: On that night

For a moment…

Think about the cloths you will be wearing, rather the cloths you will be packed with. You spend whole life earning for it.

Remember! You will not carry anything thing else other than this 3 piece of cloths.

Ask yourself, Am I prepared for this inevitable?

Page 24: On that night

For a moment…

Think about your future home -you spend a whole life preparing for it.

Think about the angels approaching you for Questioning?

The Messenger of Allah said, "When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their footsteps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask him three questions? Saheeh: Al-Bukhaaree (2/422),

Page 25: On that night

For a moment, just ask

If I were to die now, Am I prepared for it? Am I prepared for the Life in the Grave?Am I prepared for the Questions in the Grave?Am I prepared to leave this world?Am I prepared to leave your family, friends, children? If the honest answer is ‘NO’ then think about Mr. You’s death announcement.

Dear Brothers/Sisters – Thank you for your time

This was prepared with the intention of reminding us on the most inevitable and undisputed fact – death! And to help us re-define (if needed) our activities accordingly. Therefore, if you think the purpose has been served, then please do forward this to your friends and colleagues as appropriate.

And If you find any miss-alignment with Quran/Sunnah, please feel free to rectify and remind me as well.

Finally! Do remember me in your dua’s. May Allah gather us together in his Jannathul-Firdous!
