On February 2, 2015, Professor Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo,Rector, University of Porto, and Professor Maria de Fátima Marinho, Vice Rector for External Relations and Culture paid an official visit to Kasetsart University. This special visit was to celebrate the 72 th anniversary of official establishment of Kasetsart University and to discuss academic cooperation between two universities. In the morning session, Associate Professor Vudtechai Kapilakanchana, President of Kasetsart University and university administrators warmly welcomed the Rector and Vice Rector at the Three Founders Monument of Kasetsart University. After laying a wreath of University of Porto, they proceeded to campus tour including the visit to the library, Hall of History and Kasetsart Agricultural Fair. On this special occasion, Professor Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo, Rector, gave a special lecture on the topic “Engineering Education in Europe - the case-study of Chemical Engineering” at the International Conference Room, Faculty of Engineering. Dean and professors welcome delegates and 135 participants joining this session. In the afternoon, Associate Professor Dr. Bodin Rassameethes , Vice President for Sriracha Campus, Associate Professor Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, Vice President for International Relations, deans and faculty members, warmly welcomed Rector and Vice Rector, University of Porto at Kamphol Adulavidhaya Conference Room, Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center. In this regard, H.E. Luis Barreira de Sousa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, the Portugal was in this official business meeting between both partners. The main topics of discussion were : The Portuguese language teaching at Kasetsart University which H.E. Ambassador advised to prepare the tripartite agreement among Kasetsart University, University of Porto and Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, in order to receive support of lecturers and program development. The Double Degree Program in Sport Sciences which was currently in the finalized process. Possibilities in expand academic collaboration in student and faculty exchange.

Introductory Visit of the Hungarian Ambassador to Thailand

On January ,2015 ,20 H.E. Dr. Péter JAKAB, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, together with Mr. Laszlo TAKACS, First Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, the Embassy of Hungary to the Kingdom of Thailand paid an introductory visit to Kasetsart University so as to have a discussion with administrators of the University about the academic cooperation with leading universities of Hungary, particularly student mobility, and other diplomatic relations issues. The Visit of delegates from SEARCA On January 20, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, Vice President for International Relations, Associate Professor Dr. Wiboon Chongrattanameteekul, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, and Mr. Somsakdi Tabtimthong, Director of International Affairs Division warmly welcomed Ms. Maria Cristeta N. Cuaresma, Program Head, and Ms. Jesselle Solivas-Laranas, Program Specialist, Graduate Education and Institutional Development from Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) at the Meeting Room No.8, Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center, Bangkhen Campus. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the situation of SEARCA scholars and follow up other related issues under the University Consortium collaboration including the proposal under the umbrella program. In this connection, delegates had an opportunity to meet SEARCA scholars currently enrolling at KU. They were delightful to see the progress of all scholars and took this opportunity to inform the new SEARCA Scholars’ rules and procedures which will be launched soon.

On January 23, 2015, Kasetsart University and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Japan jointly hosted the Opening Ceremony and Symposium ASEAN-Japan Cooperation Project for “Human Resource Development in Food-related Areas through Partnership with Universities in ASEAN Region” at the Kamphol Adulavidhaya Conference Room, the 2nd Floor, Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center, Kasetsart University. The said project was the fruitfulness from the Symposium in Jakarta, Indonesia last year. One of the recommendation was to strengthen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries and food security through mechanism such as capacity building, sharing experience and good practices, research and development, technology transfer, human resource development and sustainable management of resources. Kasetsart University and MAFF thus agreed to organize a two-week intensive course, starting from January 26 – February 6, 2015, for 10-20 bachelor and graduate students enrolled in existing bachelor/master programs related to food education e.g. food science, processing, manufacturing, hygiene, culture, etc., at Kasetsart University. The course covered various topics relevant to food business along with the Food Value Chain (FVC). At the Opening, Associate Professor Dr. Bordin Rassameethes, Vice President for Sriracha Campus presided over as the authorized representative of the President, Kasetsart University, and received

the Plaque from ASEAN Secretariat. Moreover, its Symposium comprised the introductory lectures as follows: “Public-private and ASEAN-Japan partnership along the Food Value Chain” by Mr. Katsuhiro Saka, Director, New Business and Intellectual Property Division, Food Industry Affairs Bureau, MAFF Introduction of the ASEAN Japan Project by Mr. Masanori Kawaguchi, Project Coordinator at ASEAN Secretariat, and Introduction of Partnership Program at Kasetsart University by Dr. Tanaboon Sajjaanantakul, Dean, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University. The Japanese food companies namely Fuji Oil, KIRIN and Nichirei Foods, taking part in this partnership program, were also invited to introduce its business to the audience. For the wonderful ending of the program of the day, the Japanese Cuisine Reception was held for all participants at the Rama Gardens Hotel where all enjoyed distinctive Japanese food featuring four seasons produced by Mr. Takuya Iguma, chief chef of the renowned Japanese restaurant “Aoi” Bangkok.

On Friday 23 January 2015, International Affairs Division, Kasetsart University organized a special lecture on “the Universities and High Class Studies in London” which Associate Professor Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, Vice President for International Relations gave a warmly welcome address for its opening ceremony at the Meeting Room No. 8, Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Bangkhen Campus. This lecture was given by five speakers from four well-known universities in London namely: 1. Ms. Angela Lin and Ms. Lisa McNeil-Duncan from Imperial College London, 2. Ms. Maral Dadourian from University College London (UCL), 3. Ms. Stephanie Limuaco from Kings College London, and 4. Ms. Laura Hayes from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) of University of London

The objectives of this special lecture are to introduce the information about high class studies in London as well as four renowned universities in London, scholarship and relevant information which foreign students may need to know. This event will provide opportunities for all participants to get information as well as to explore, share and contribute their thoughts and ideas for any possible further studies and research experiences in the future.

Signing Agreement for Dual Research Degree with Universiti Putra Malaysia On February 3, 2015, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Fauzi b. Hj Ramlan, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and his associates paid an official visit to Kasetsart University to officially establish the academic collaboration in dual degree programs (Master’s and PhD). Previously, Kasetsart University and partner universities of the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources or shortly called the “University Consortium” agreed to undertake the joint graduate degree courses and/or dual/double degree programs in agriculture, natural resources and other relevant fields. On this occasion, Memorandum of Agreement Dual Research Degree (Masters and PhD) was signed by the authorized representatives of both universities at Kasetsart University, Bangkhen Campus, Bangkok, Thailand.

On February 2, 2015, Madam Mrs. Chu Qingling, Madam of the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, paid a visit to Kaset Fair 2015. On this occasion, the guest of honor was greeted by Mr. Somsakdi Tabtimthong, Director, International Affairs Division. During the visit, she had explored the Exhibition at the Chakkrabhandhu Pensiri Building including researches of Kasetsart University and also the Exhibition hosted by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine before spending her time at the Confucius Institute Kasetsart University Booth.

On February 9, 2015, at Room No.6, the 2nd Floor, the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center, Ms. Supiengpitch B. Phornroekngam, Director, Information Resource Center together with Ms. Baralee Sukontaransri, Information Resource Center, Embassy of the United States of America in Thailand paid a visit to Kasetsart University and met with Associate Professor Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, Vice President for International Relations, as well as other administrators They all had a discussion on the following issues : 1. Promotion of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) 2. Leadership Camp for students of Kasetsart University and other neighboring higher education institutions in Thailand 3. On February 11, 2015, Professor Dr. Denise Cuthbert, Dean, School of Graduate Research, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia, paid an official visit to the main campus of Kasetsart University in Bangkok. On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Poonpipope Kasemsap, Vice President for International Relations; Associate Professor Dr. Bordin Rassameethes, Vice President for Sriracha Campus along with certain administrators of Kasetsart University extended warm welcome and hospitality to Professor Dr. Denise Cuthber at the Meeting Room No. 9, the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center. They all had a discussion about the possibilities to widen scopes of cooperation between Kasetsart University and RMIT, particularly co-supervision provided to graduate students, joint publications, dual/joint degree program development, and capacity building of academic-supporting staff.

On February 19, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Bordin Rassameethes, Vice President, together with Associate Professor Dr. Prompilai Buasuwan; Assistant Professor Dr. Supanni Chantkran, and representatives from related faculties extended a warm welcome to a large group of delegates from Mulawarman University, Indonesia. The del-egates, who were graduate students accompanied by faculty members, visited Kasetsart University for a purpose of matchmaking of their theses/dissertations to supervisors in partner universi-ties including Kasetsart University. Their research topics were in such various fields as agriculture,

KU. CSC. Delegates in Vietnam During the period of February 3-7, 2015, the delegates of Kasetsart University, Chalermphakiat Sakon Nakhon Province Campus led by Assist. Prof, Dr. Anukul Wattanasuk together with representatives from Faculty of Natural Resources and Agro-Industry, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Management science, and Faculty of Public Health, paid a technical visit to the Social Republic of Vietnam aiming to explore the possibilities to initiate collaborative activities with universities in these countries including Department of Science and Technology, Quang Tri Province, Quang Binh University, Ha Tinh University and Ha Tinh Medical College. The summary of the discussion is that all parties agree to strengthen their network for the benefit of students in Teaching, Conducting Researches, Academic Services and also National Heritage Preservation.

During February 18 – 21, 2015, a total of 28 students and staff from University of Tsukuba, Japan, came to Thailand for their technical visit at both Bangkhen and Kamphaeng Saen campuses of Kasetsart University. Their main objectives were to learn and share their views with Kasetsart University about student activities and management as well as to taste Thai life & culture for greater relations between the two universities. On February 19, 2015, the delegates were warmly welcomed by Director and administrative members of Student Affairs Division together with KU student leaders, then in the afternoon they departed from Bangkhen Campus to Kamphaeng Saen Campus for their further visit to agricultural sites and livestock farms on February 20, 2015. All delegates went back to Bangkok on February 21, 2015, for a cultural tour in the city including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, a most tourist attraction in Bangkok. Their visitation this time reflected the important tie that University of Tsukuba has had with Kasetsart University for a very long period of time.
