ON THE RAILS… NOVEMBER 2015 November... remember that this is “our” month! November is National Model Railroading Month! Do something to promote your hobby! Of course one thing to do – attend and help at the Div 6 Fall Show!!! Without you, we have nothing to show the public. WE NEED YOU!! The show is ONE month away!! See all the details later on in the newsletter! Train show season has started, but please also support your local hobby shops!! DIV 6 MEETINGS Our Division 6 meetings are on the

DIV 6 MODEL PROJECT The next modeling project was due in October and the subject was the grain industry. We had 4 models shown – 2 elevators, a box car and grain related vehicles! After the voting during the break, the bragging rights go to Pierre Willermet for his elevator/mill building. We did not decide on a next project.

MODELING INFO W/LARRY Larry was not present for the last meeting. Hoping he’ll return next month and have a good report.

FALL SHOW & WORKSHOP IT IS HERE!!! Set your calendars!!

Sunday, November 29th from 11am-4pm is our 37th annual Fall Show & Workshop!! As usual, this is the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Flyers have gone out to all local hobby shops! Full page flyers are available for all members to take and post! Post these at work, church... everywhere! WE NEED YOU!! We will need every Div 6 member to step-up and help out for this event. It is this event that

keeps Div 6 dues free! See the form, fill it out and turn it in!! The Div 6 FALL SHOW & WORKSHOP is less than 30 DAYS AWAY!! Will YOU display?? Will YOU help?? We need YOU!! Here’s what we need – DISPLAYS! do not have enough! Front door admissions help! More layouts!! Set-up & tear down help! Need donations to the raffle! Need YOU to tell everyone! We need DISPLAYS! ANYTHING is possible to display & demonstrate. The PLUS is that depending on what you demonstrate, it also helps your progress on your layout! Structures, painting people, fixing/upgrading rolling stock; making trees, the list is endless! Let’s also not forget historical displays! Show off your proto-type railroad items, books, fact sheets and history. This is a great

display that you can put next to your demonstration and do BOTH! *RAFFLE - Bill McMillan will be running the raffles, but we NEED donations for the Raffle! Items MUST be new! Please bring your donations to the Div 6 meeting or even the day of the show. *CONTESTS - We’ll have the model and photo contest – how about entering one or both? Ed Beamish is running this activity.

*FOOD – Norm is heading-up the “dinning car” and is all set with help too, plus Norm did our publicity! The sign-up form is in this newsletter! LET’S DO GOOD!!! LET’S BE ACTIVE!! PLEASE LET’S DO A DISPLAY!!!

RAILROAD HISTORY John Bopp was present, so we did

have a history lesson. “The Railroad Story” a book on railroad progress and science, published by the school & college service for railroads 1955 (aka, government). This is basically a large promotional brochure! John read a story telling general railroad information and a “trip” of a young lady going cross-country from Seattle to Washington DC. THANKS John! Looking forward to

another lesson soon.

Mark had a great powerpoint presentation on all of the basics of air brushing, from the types of air brushes, how they work, how to use them, etc!! Mark was willing to do some live demo’s, but we ran out of time. Great information! Very good clinic!! THANKS!! NEXT MEETING- Barry Hensel on making trees

and Portland. The BNSD has two hundred feet of dual mainline,

wrapping around the basement. DCC Digitrax. Scenery is approximately 75% complete.

Great Northern Empire is circa 1974 running the GN and CB & Q from

Chicago to Seattle. I t has two main tracks of about 150 feet. The

Chicago station yard is a 9 track stub end yard with 5 passenger and 4 classification tracks.
