CALL TO ORDER Statement is hereby made that adequate notice of this meeting has been properly provided by the
giving of a meeting notice, by mailing same to the Hub Newspaper, and Asbury Park Press on
Saturday, January 9, 2016, filing same on Saturday, January 9, 2016, with the clerk of the
Borough of Tinton Falls, Borough of Eatontown and the Township of Shrewsbury, and by
prominently posting said notice on the Monmouth Regional High School Internet Web page and
the main doors into the High School building in the Administration wing on Saturday, January 9,
2016.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mr. Cohen President in the Schleig conference

1. Student of the Month May – Shakyra Causby: Mr. Teeple presented the student of the
month award to Shakyra Causby.
2. Student of the Month June – Carly Weisman: Mr. Teeple presented the student of the
month award to Carly Weisman.
3. June Update: Mr. Teeple updated the board members on the following items:

4. Board Member Ethics/Involvement: Mr. Barger discussed with the board members the
recent ethics ruling regarding board member involvement in other school associated
organizations. The board members were in agreement to discuss this topic and agree
upon parameters at the August 23 retreat.
5. Home Schooled Request from Parent: Mr. Barger discussed with the board members
that the district received a request to allow a home schooled student to participate in
sports. The board members were in agreement to discuss this topic and agree upon a
policy at the August 23rd retreat. Mrs. Parry will find out from other districts if they
allow/disallow home schooled students to participate in school activities.
6. Retreat: Mr. Cohen reported that the retreat is the 23rd which the board self-evaluation
will be discussed along with the two items discussed above.

Julia’s Report
The Model UN club will hold its end of the year party today after school.
FCCLA held its end of the year party last Wednesday and is holding their pinning
ceremony tomorrow after school.
The French club end of the year party is today after school.
AP class teachers are holding meetings to speak with their next year students.
The boys’ basketball team is holding a meeting for new and returning players for next
year.

Student Relocation student #2017503
The Board grant permission for student #2017503, to complete their senior year (2016-2017) at

maintenance of passing grades in all student #2017503’s classes. Additionally, student
#2017503 must remain a member of good standing in the community and provide their own
transportation to and from school.
Unpaid Technology Intern – Summer 2016:
Jonathon Hom, a junior at Monmouth Regional High School to perform a summer unpaid
internship in the technology department under the supervision of Mr. Theodore Ragavas. The
period of time will be July 5 – August 31, 2016 four days a week.
New Volunteer Club: Dungeons and Dragons Club:
A new volunteer club for 2016-2017 – Dungeons and Dragons Club with Mr. Michael Lee as the
advisor. Mr. Lee is fully aware he will not be paid for this position and agrees to follow all rules
and regulations of the student activity advisor handbook.

Reduction in force:

position in 2016-2017 and which teacher shall be riffed and put on the preferred eligibility

Whereas, after very careful review of the entire situation the Administration has determined that
the position of Business Teacher shall be offered to Susan Wolff for the 2016-2017 school year;
and
Whereas, Eileen Cilino does not have bumping rights into any other position at Monmouth
Regional; and
Whereas, Eileen Cilino does have tenure and is therefore entitled to be on the preferred eligibility
list for the position of Business Teacher at Monmouth Regional if and when one becomes
available in the future; and
Whereas, Eileen Cilino has been notified of this situation and her placement on the preferred
eligibility list for the position of Business Teacher;

B. Off Guide Benefits 2016-2017:
The Board approve the Off Guide Benefits for 2016-2017 for non-associated staff personnel:
2016-2017 Off Guide Annual Personnel Benefits Days granted for Personal, Family Illness, and Death:
The off guide personnel will be entitled to benefits as outlined in Policy 4151.7. At this time
those benefits include five (5) days death in the immediate family per occurrence, three (3) days
for relative of the second degree, one (1) day death of a relative or friend per occurrence, two (2)
days serious family illness, and three (3) days for personal business.
Personal sick leave benefits will equal one (1) day for each month worked in a year up to a
maximum of twelve (12) days. Unused sick leave accumulates until retirement. At the end of
each school year, unused personal days will be added to the accumulated sick leave for each
employee.
Sick leave upon retirement will be as follows:
AVA and Information Technology Personnel will receive benefits equal to the Secretarial Unit
Agreement in place at time of retirement.
The Building and Grounds Supervisor, Permanent Subs, Transportation Supervisor, Student
Records Coordinator, Confidential Secretaries and Business Officer Clerk will receive benefits
equal to Teachers Agreement in place at time of retirement.
Perfect Attendance
All employees listed above with perfect attendance will be eligible for payment in accordance
with the current teacher contract language. (2014-2017 Contract, Article XVIII section E, Pg30-)
Vacation
10 month employees follow the 10 month calendar/holiday schedule with no vacations.
12 month employees are entitled to vacation as follows:

I. Transfer of unexpended appropriations and/or excess revenue to reserve:
The following:
WHEREAS, NJSA 18A:21-2 and NJSA 18A:7G-13 permit a Board of Education to establish
and/or deposit into certain reserve accounts at year end and,
WHEREAS, the aforementioned statutes authorize procedures, under the authority of the
Commissioner of Education, which permit a Board of Education to transfer anticipated excess
current revenue or unexpended appropriations into reserve accounts during the month of June by
board resolution, and
WHEREAS, the Monmouth Regional High School Board of Education wishes to deposit
anticipated excess current revenues and/or unexpended appropriations into a Maintenance;
and/or Emergency; and/or Capital Reserve account at year end, and
WHEREAS, the Monmouth Regional High School Board of Education has determined that up
to $400,000 each is available for such purposes to transfer,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Monmouth Regional High School Board of
Education that it hereby authorizes the district’s School Business Administrator to establish this
account if necessary and make this transfer consistent with all applicable laws and regulations.

BOARD COMMENTS-
Ms. Britton: Ms. Britton reported she attended many senior events and have heard many
compliments on all of them.
Mr. Mauro: Mr. Mauro welcomed back Mr. Gaetano.
Ms. Van Wagner: Ms. Van Wagner complimented the senior class advisor for many positive
events.
Ms. Linder: Ms. Linder stated she attended the athletic dinner. She also reported the
Eatontown Choraliers sang at Seabrook.
Ms. Fisher: Ms. Fisher stated she attended the PTSA meeting last night and was happy to report
they have a president and executive board.
Mr. Seavey: Mr. Seavey reported he attended the varsity banquet, the leadership and academic
awards and thought everything was well done and the students were terrific.
Mr. Seavey also reported that he attended legislative day and discussed what senate president
Sweeney spoke to the group about. He also reported he attended a school security conference
last Friday and asked for about an hour of Mr. Teeple’s time to discuss in detail the results of the
seminar.
Mr. Cohen: Mr. Cohen reported that the Cohen Family Scholarship gave out an award on
senior awards night.

Suzanne Lanza, Tinton Falls: Ms. Lanza informed the board members about a busing situation
that involved her child and another student. She expressed her disappointment with the
Administration in how they have handled the situation. Mr. Barger, Board Attorney informed
Ms. Lanza that the matter would not be discussed as it is a personnel matter.
REEOLUTION TO ENTER PRIVATE SESSION- 8:37 p.m.
On a recommendation of the Superintendent, motion was made by Mr. Seavey, seconded by Mr.
Gaetano and carried THAT:
WHEREAS, the Sen. Byron M. Baer Open Public meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et seq., (the
“Act”) provides that the Monmouth Regional High School Board of Education may hold an
“Executive Session” from which the public is excluded to discuss matters that are confidential or
are one of the nine (9) subject matters listed Section 12(b) of the Act; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended by the Superintendent and Business Administrator that the
Monmouth Regional High School Board of Education go into Executive Session on June 7, 2016
at 8:37 PM to discuss matters that are permissible for discussion in Executive Session; and
WHEREAS, the length of the Executive Session is estimated to be 45 minutes after which the
public meeting of the Board shall reconvene and proceed with business; and
WHEREAS, that the Board hereby declares that its discussion of the following subject(s) will be
made public at a time when the public’s interest in disclosure is greater than any privacy or
governmental interest being protected from disclosure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Monmouth Regional High School Board of
