“As  God’s  fellow  workers  we  urge  you  not  to  receive  God’s  grace  in  vain.”  II  Corinthians  6:1

“For  we  are  God’s  co–workers…”  1  Corinthians  3:9

Have  you  ever  considered  yourself  a  co-‐worker  with  Christ?  Paul  did.  But,  you  say,  “Paul  was  an  apostle  and  I’m  just  a  Christian.”   Yes,   Paul   was   an   Apostle   and   you   are   a   Christian.   But   that   still   means   that   you   were   chosen   before   the  foundation  of  the  world  to  be  co-‐heirs  with  Christ.  It  still  means  that  God  delights  in  your  fellowship  and  desires  to  have  you  join  Him  in  His  work.

Wishing  to  encourage  her  young  son's  progress  on  the  piano,  a  mother  took  her  boy  to  a  Paderewski  concert.  After  they  were  seated,  the  mother  spotted  a  friend  in  the  audience  and  walked  down  the  aisle  to  greet  her.  Seizing  the  opportunity  to  explore   the  wonders  of   the  concert  hall,   the   little  boy  rose  and  eventually  explored  his  way  through  a  door  marked  "NO  ADMITTANCE."

When  the  house  lights  dimmed  and  the  concert  was  about  to  begin,  the  mother  returned  to  her  seat  and  discovered  that  the   child   was  missing.   Suddenly,   the   curtains   parted   and   spotlights   focused   on   the   impressive   Steinway   on   stage.   In  horror,  the  mother  saw  her  little  boy  sitting  at  the  keyboard,  innocently  picking  out  "Twinkle,  Twinkle  Little  Star."

At  that  moment,  the  great  piano  master  made  his  entrance,  quickly  moved  to  the  piano,  and  whispered  in  the  boy's  ear,  "Don't  quit.  Keep  playing."  Then   leaning  over,  Paderewski   reached  down  with  his   left  hand  and  began   filling   in  a  bass  part.  Soon  his  right  arm  reached  around  to  the  other  side  of  the  child  and  he  added  a  running  obbligato.  Together,  the  old   master   and   the   young   novice   transformed   a   frightening   situation   into   a   wonderfully   creative   experience.   The  audience  was  mesmerized.

That's   the  way   it   is  with  our  Heavenly  Father.  What  we  can  accomplish  on  our  own   is  hardly  noteworthy.  We  try  our  best,  but  the  results  aren't  exactly  graceful,  flowing  music.  However,  with  the  hand  of  the  Master,  our  life's  work  truly  can  be  beautiful.

Solomon  said:  “Trust  in  the  LORD  with  all  your  heart  and  lean  not  on  your  own  understanding;  in  all  your  ways  submit  to  Him,  and  He  will  make  your  paths  straight”  (Proverbs  3:5-‐6).  This  reminds  us  that  His  strong  hands  are  there  to  help  us  turn  our  feeble  attempts  into  true  masterpieces.  God  doesn't  call  the  equipped;  He  equips  the  called.  And  He'll  always  be  there  to  love  and  guide  us  on  to  greater  things.

     1. The  Session  accepted  a  letter  of  resignation  from  Sherrie  Kudla.  Sherrie  has  been  church  secretary  for  two  years.  Her  last  day  will  be  September  27th.  We  wish  Sherrie  well  as  she  pursues  work  in  her  field  of  graphic  art.  2. Re:   The   Acts   16:5   Seminar   in   October,   the   Session,   by   consensus,   decided   that   the  church  is  headed  in  the  right  direction  so  let  us  continue  down  this  path  and  not  make  any  new  commitments  at  this  time.  3. From  the  Suggestion  Box:  Some  are  concerned  that  dress  may  be  getting  too  casual  at

Sunday  morning  worship,  especially  for  those  with  worship  duties.  A  question  to  ask  yourself  may  be:  “Am  I  dressed  in  a  way  that  I  am  ready  to  serve  the  Lord  in  any  capacity?”

4. Sally  Tsunekawa  is  working  on  setting  event  dates  for  2013  in  our  church  calendar.    5. Mortgage  Fund  Treasurer  Allen  Fong  will  pay  the  annual  interest  of  $2,000  for  the  $50,000  loan  to  the  church  from

the  French  Camp  JACL.  6. Farewell  and  thanks  were  given  to  Youth  Elder  Garrett  Wong  as  he  leaves  for  college.

Myra  Fong,  Clerk  of  Session  August  2012  YTD  Income   $135,154.29  Expenses   $132,528.07  Total   +    $2,626.22
