Introduction

It has been 3 years since the devastating earthquake in Tohoku region. What have we learnt from the event and what could we have done for emergency management? The incident of the earthquake in Tohoku region wasn’t merely a shake in one area. It involved seismic activity from various parts of the earth’s crust. As a consequence, it attacked our lives and had horrific aftershocks. The impact went beyond the expectations of scientists and changed their preconceived notion of earthquakes. . Today various scientific research is being is studied about the earthquake in Tohoku. Maybe each project holds the key each one has the key to Pandora's Box. We are facing a serious reality and we can only achieve a full analysis of the incident by pessimistically assessing the aftermath. We believe that this can be successfully achieved by having each person, authorities, government and those from various fields to work together to look into the lives more critically. Regretfully said this issue has not been successfully coordinated to date. Never the less we feel we can promote discussion and common ideas about this issue that can be be used if ever we encounter disaster again. Preparation is critical. At this Conference, we would like to mark the start of a new phase by reviewing and reconsidering the innovation measures. We will see what has been covered and learn from the people who have experienced the dramatic event. We request that you understand our aims and invite you to be a part of this forum.

GLOPATH is hosting the Post quake Innovation Forum.

We hope to heighten the awareness of disaster relief by initiating

conversations in people’s homes.

Since Meiji restoration most of the education and medicine service was provided and supplied by the country and as a result Japan turned out to be one of the most developed countries in which to live. Japanese turned out to have a mind set of being a- “guest” in their own country and have forgotten the core of being able to take initiative. As guests they would claim and ask others to do for them and take control for them. This mind set must change in order to be able to heighten each person’s awareness of initiating conversations in their homes of how they can respond for themselves in conjunction with official disaster relief. This could widen and strengthen the mind.

PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE

At this Conference, we would like to enforce, implement an action plan and review all the issues carried out to reduce the effects caused by disasters—March 11, 2014, will mark the third anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Tohoku. ~We need to see what issues have been covered and to review and learn from the people who have experienced the dramatic events first hand.

What have we learned through this extraordinarily tragic event? What could we have done? What does revitalizing mean?

And we will be encouraging Japan to regain their confidence and optimism. ~We want to remind the Japanese people on their incredible recovery after such a demoralizing event. We want to draw out their confidence that they have the ability to complete any tasks and reach goals.

After the conference on March 11th, we will be presenting our Innovation performances that we have achieved. We would like to succeed in achieving our various ideas in the diverse fields and will be presenting you on how we have achieved these goals.

We should not forget our experiences from March 11. We must remember that these big problems could reoccur. Therefore we should openly share the issues that that are connected to disasters.

We believe that staying frightened will not resolve anything. We would like to actively make plans and let people know the important message. We would also like to influence positive attitudes towards this issue.

As we approach the Third anniversary since the earthquake in Tohoku, we would like to hold a conference that allows us to reflect on Innovation Case Studies.

At this conference we would like to prepare and renew current disaster prevention plans.

At this conference we would like to question the issue of disaster prevention plans. ～ “ In our current situation are we prepared to live in our cities safely?” At this conference we would like to confront the safety precautions that are connected to earthquakes.

The incident of the earthquake in Tohoku region wasn’t merely a shake in one area. It involved seismic activity from various parts of the earth’s crust. Till today various scientific research is being led towards the earthquake in Tohoku, and each one has the key to Pandora's box. Various Industrial fields are confronting new realities and have to reestablish the standards of their qualities.

Therefore the urge to innovation alterations is required.

~Innovation towards the outlook of the future through case studies is what we are to achieve.

We will be confronting the problems of victims that are still affected from the aftermath of the earthquake…

We will be predicting and analyzing the quake along the Nankai Trough off Japan’s Pacific coast.

We will be talking about the structure of homes that may be damaged from earthquakes…

And we would be brainstorming methods that could prevent us from being victimized during an earthquake.
