As a reminder, the NREMT requires that all Advanced Level Representatives attend a Rep Update before December 31, 2016.

If you have already attended a Rep Update after Day 2 of a Regional Scenario Development Workshop in 2016, you do NOT need to attend a webinar rep update. However, you are welcome to attend anyway if you are interested.

For those who have not yet attended a live Rep Update, we are offering two options to fulfill this requirement before the December 31 deadline:

Option 1: A recorded version of the Rep Update (26 minutes)

You are required to sign an attestation at the end of the Rep Update acknowledging that you understand the components of the Rep Update and the new changes

in the NREMT psychomotor processes. Your attendance of a Rep Update is recorded when you sign the attestation at the end of the recorded webinar.

REMINDER: REP UPDATES REQUIRED BY DECEMBER 31

NCCP CONTENT OPTIONS FOR RECERTIFICATIONIn 2012, the NREMT introduced a new recertification model, the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP). Constructed using methodology similar to that

of the American Board of Medical Specialties requirements, the new NCCP model streamlines the recertification process into three strategic categories of continuing education: National, Local, and Individual.

Nationally Certified EMS personnel recertifying in 2017, or 2018, and in a NCCP approved state, may utilize either the 2012 Revision of the National Content Guide or the

2016 Revision of the National Content detailed on this page. EMS personnel may also use state-approved legacy refresher courses to recertify.

If you have purchased or are planning to purchase a voucher at the current price, please be sure to apply it by December 31, 2016. Vouchers may be applied to an application after the application is submitted.

Regardless of purchase date, any unused vouchers for the current prices will expire after December 31, 2016. If you will be unable to use your purchased voucher by this deadline, please contact the NREMT at certification@nremt.org.

The NREMT has updated the EMR User’s Guide, the EMT User’s Guide, the Advanced Level Coordinator Manual, and the Advanced Level Representative’s Manual. All content reflects current changes in the psychomotor examination processes as we move towards the January 1, 2017 implementation date for Phase 1 testing.

Any candidate for National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification beginning an education program on or after August 1, 2016, must now complete a portfolio before they qualify to take the examination. The portfolio, which provides a mass of evidence documenting a candidate’s competency in 12 psychomotor skill areas, is a prerequisite to seeking NRP certification. The program tracks each student’s portfolio throughout the formative and summative phases of education in the laboratory, clinical and field internship settings.

Effective January 1, 2017, the NREMT will begin Phase 1 of its transition to an NRP scenario-based psychomotor examination. Those completing the NRP psychomotor examination will be tested on an out-of-hospital scenario skill. Additionally, the examination will test five legacy skills (Patient Assessment – Trauma, Dynamic Cardiology,

Static Cardiology, Oral Case A, and Oral Case B) that currently exist among the 12 skills on the NRP psycho-motor exam.

IMPORTANT DATES

Effective immediately, continuing education hours can be earned for your next NREMT recertification as soon as you complete your current recertification.*

Previously, hours would not count for the next recertification period unless they were earned after the expiration date—regardless of

when you recertified. Now, hours begin to count for the next period immediately.

For example: Complete your recertification on October 3, and you can count education beginning October 4 for the next recertification cycle.

*Some states do not participatein rolling education. Pleasecheck with your state office toverify participation.
