Instructions for the conduct of the Listening Comprehension Examination
The teacher should instruct the candidates to answer the questions on the paper provided.
The following procedure for reading the Listening Comprehension passage is to be explained
to the candidates immediately before proceeding with the examination.
a. 3 minutes - Candidates read questions b. 3 minutes - First reading aloud of passage while candidates take notes c. 3 minutes - Candidates answer questions d. 3 minutes - Second reading of passage and possibility for candidates to answer questions e. 3 minutes - Final revision
You have been given a sheet containing the Listening Comprehension questions.
You will be given three minutes to read the questions based on the passage. I shall then read the passage at normal reading speed. You may take notes during the reading. After this reading there will be a pause of another three minutes to enable you to answer some of the questions. The passage will be read a second time and you may take further notes and answer the rest of the questions. After this second reading you will be given a further three minutes for a final revision of answers.

LISTENING COMPREHENSION
TEACHER’S PAPER
You are going to listen to a story about Henry.
Henry is a twelve year old boy who lives in Sannat with his parents Tony and Jane.
Henry has an older sister called Mary who will turn fifteen next month. Henry’s
favourite family member is his pet, a parrot called Ringo.
Henry did not go to school yesterday because he was not feeling well. When he woke
up in the morning, he had a stomach ache. The night before, Henry went to a
friend’s party and ate too much spicy food such as chicken curry. He also had too
much fizzy drink.
“I warned you about the fizzy drinks, but you did not listen,” said his mother angrily
taking him to the doctor’s clinic. After a long time waiting, it was finally Henry’s
turn at the doctor’s. “Don’t worry, Henry. You’ll feel better soon. After Dr Grech
examined Henry, he gave him some pills for his pain and told him to have some rest.
“You cannot eat any spicy food for now, I’ll cook some soup for you,” said Henry’s
mother on their way to the pharmacy. When they arrived home, Henry went straight
to his bedroom to have some rest.
