Engines, performance and drive The original Qashqai was fun to drive but the latest model takes a more mature approach. Levels of noise and vibration have been vastly improved and it achieves a composed feel in corners thanks to Nissan’s Active Trace Control torque vectoring system. Auto express found that there is rarely a problem around town, thanks to the high driving position, light controls and descent visibility, making it an easy drive through crowded streets.

MPG, CO2 and Running Costs Auto Express credited the vehicles impressively economical range of engines, especially the 1.5dCi diesel, which achieves 74.3mpg and is also road tax exempt.

Interior, Design and Technology The biggest change compared to the original model is its upmarket look, thanks to a sharp nose, distinctive LED running lights, and the use of chrome bars and wrap around rear lights on the tailgate. Auto express further commented that on the inside the vehicle looks sharp and feels well built.

Practicality, Comfort and Boot Space Key positives found decent legroom throughout the vehicle even on the middle-seat which wasn’t intruded by the transmission tunnel. The amount of storage is also ideal for families; with a large glovebox, several cubbies and an electric handbrake which frees up space in the centre console.

NISSAN QASHQAI IS STILL GETTING 5* REVIEWSThe latest model of the Nissan Qashqai was launched back in November 2013 and immediately received fantastic reviews and a jaw-dropping range of awards including winning WHATCAR? Car of the Year (Best Small SUV) for three years running.

Reliability and Safety The Qashqai has been awarded the Euro NCAP full five star rating, with the car scoring very well in adult and child occupant categories. The vehicles safety shield technology give the driver further reassurance thanks to autonomous braking, lane departure warning, drowsiness detection, blind spot warning and traffic sign recognition.

Overall The second-generation Qashqai takes over from where the old one left off. With significant improvements to safety, multimedia and build quality being the vehicles key highlights.

ANOTHER AWARD FOR THE MAZDA MX-5We are pleased to announce that the Mazda MX-5 has won yet another award, but we think this one is the best yet. Last month, the all-new Mazda MX-5 was named both the 2016 World Car of the Year and the World Car Design of the Year. It is the second Mazda to win the award, following the Mazda2 in 2008, and the first model to win both titles in the history of the awards.

World Car of the Year was established in 2004 by an international group of automotive journalists, and

the judging panel this year consisted of 73 journalists from 23 different countries. The event took place at the New York International Auto Show on March 24th. Other finalists for the award included the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jaguar XE and Mazda CX-3.

“What a wonderful honour, to have the Mazda MX-5 named both World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year,” said Masahiro Moro, President and CEO, Mazda North American Operations, and Managing Executive Officer, Mazda Motor Corporation. “As our iconic MX-5 roadster approaches one-million units of production, this award is proof that it is as young, vibrant, fun and relevant as ever, and proof that every Mazda looks as incredible as it drives, and drives as incredibly as it looks.”

The all-new MX-5 is the sixth model in Mazda’s new-generation line-up of vehicles featuring the full range of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and KODO—Soul of Motion design. Launched globally in 2015, the model has found favour with customers thanks to its vastly reduced kerbweight, human-centred design and ‘Jinba-ittai’ fun-to-drive feel.

The new MX-5 has won over 30 awards so far, including 2015-2016 Car of the Year Japan and 2016 UK Car of the Year (UKCOTY). The retractable hardtop version of the model, Mazda MX-5 RF, makes its world debut at the 2016 New York International Auto Show.
