Dear Friends, It has been a busy and productive year for the NDCC! Thispast year represented the NDCC's first full year of operationas a key initiative of Mayor Michael B. Hancock. As we begin2015, we'd like to reflect on the progress made across all sixNDCC projects. We began the 2014 with an aggressivetimeline and ended the year with a bang. Here's a glimpse ofsome of our successes from 2014:
The NDCC team did nearly 60 public presentations tovarious groups over the course of the year.RTD broke ground on the new North Metro line inearly 2014.A Health Impact Assessment was created that providesa framework to better understand howenvironmental, physical, economic, and socialconditions determine health in the neighborhoods.Mayor Michael B. Hancock dedicated $47 million in his2015 budget to jumpstart NDCC projects.A memorandum of understanding was createdbetween the City & County of Denver, The GreenwayFoundation, Bridges to Prosperity and ZeppelinDevelopment to build a new Pedestrian Bridge, linkingTaxi to the future River North Park.Design work began for the new RiNo Park.A group of civic and business leaders came togetherwith the City to discuss how best to implementBrighton Blvd improvements.CDOT received more than 900 comments for theSupplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statementwhich closed on October 31st. The Globeville Neighborhood Plan was adopted byDenver City Council in December.The Elyria ‐ Swansea Neighborhood Plan draft wasreleased in November and is currently in the processof being approved by City Council.The National Western Center Master Plan draft wasreleased in collaboration with our partners NationalWestern Association, Colorado State University,Denver Museum of Nature & Science and HistoryColorado.
Other important successes will be outlined in the 2014 NDCCAnnual Report coming soon. In the meantime, the NDCCwishes you a happy and prosperous New Year. We lookforward to your continued involvement as we maintain thesame momentum to advance Globeville, Elyria and Swansea! Sincerely,

Draft Master PlanCompleted in December On December 18th, MayorMichael B. Hancock along withkey partners National WesternAssociation, Colorado StateUniversity, Denver Museum ofNature & Science and History Colorado released a draft of themaster plan for the National Western Center. This masterplanning effort began in 2013 and included key partners anda Citizens Advisory Committee consisting of residents,business and land owners and other interested stakeholders. The vision retains and strengthens Denver as a top rateddestination for conventions and tourism along with a campusthat is neighborhood friendly. This vision brings together life‐long learning, the arts, entertainment, competition andcommerce under one unique campus. This campus vision willposition Denver as a global player in 21st century agriculturehelping advance knowledge around food production, safetyand the expansion of healthy foods at an international scale. The master plan draft can be viewed by clickinghere. Please also join us for a public meeting on Wednesday,January 14th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Swansea ElementarySchool. At this meeting, the project team will present themaster plan elements and you will have an opportunity toprovide your feedback. Interpretation services and child carewill be available.
New Street Named After Long Time SwanseaResident On December 18th, the National Western Center CitizensAdvisory Committee (CAC) was receiving an overview of theNWC Master Plan draft when Councilwoman Judy Monteropointed out a new Denver street on the plan called BettieCram Drive. Surprised by the news, long time Swansearesident Bettie Cram was then informed that Denver wouldbe naming a new street in her honor. She was presented witha street sign with the new street name that connects

Globeville to Elyria and Swansea through the NationalWestern Center. Bettie Johnson Cram was born September 18, 1922 on a farmnear Niwot, Colorado. After high school she moved to Denverand worked several jobs. In 1941, she found work at theLivestock Exchange Group. She remained there for severalyears, working in different buildings and departments. Shemet her husband, Eddie Cram while working there and aftertheir marriage, they settled in the Swansea neighborhoodraising two daughters. After Eddie passed away, Bettie remained active in thePilgrim Congregational Church and a variety of communityassociations, especially the redesign of Interstate 70. Sheremains active and participates in the Elyria SwanseaNeighborhood Plan and the National Western Center CitizenAdvisory Committee among other community projects. Congratulations Bettie and thank you for your dedication toGlobeville, Elyria and Swansea!

Neighborhood Plans
Elyria ‐ Swansea Neighborhood Plan If you haven't had a chance to review the draft of the Elyria ‐Swansea Neighborhood Plan, it can be viewed online. OnJanuary 7th, the Denver Planning Board will have a publichearing on the Elyria‐Swansea neighborhood plan. After that, the plan will be reviewed by the Neighborhoods & PlanningCouncil Committee on January 21st. Finally, it will go beforeCity Council for approval on February 9th.. Printed copies of the plan are also available for review at twolocations:1. Valdez‐Perry Library, 4690 Vine Street2. Focus Points Resource Center, 2501 East 48th Avenue
Globeville Neighborhood PlanThe Globeville Neighborhood Plan was adopted by DenverCity Council on December 1st. The NDCC would like to thankthe Globeville Steering Committee for their dedication totheir neighborhood. Since 2013, residents have been workingwith Denver's Community Planning and Development teamto create a plan that supports the desires and needs ofGlobeville residents. This plan is an important step toensuring Globeville continues to thrive. This plan also helpsguide future work at the National Western Center andsurrounding development. In Memoriam The NDCC extends our condolences to the Forney Museum for the recent loss of Mr. JackDonovan Forney. Mr. Forney was a life‐long Fort Collins resident and former President of
Forney Industries & the Forney Museum of Transportation. He passed away at his home in Ft.Collins December 3rd, 2014 at the age of 86. Read more on Mr. Forney by clicking here.
Denver's Corridor of Opportunity The Corridor of Opportunity represents a nearly 23‐mile stretch between linking I‐70 and East Commuter line from Denver Union Station to Denver InternationalAirport. The corridor is one of the most compelling commercial investment opportunities in theworld, with thousands of developable acres. With nine commuter‐rail stations along RTD'sEast Line alone (slated to open in 2016), future plans for the area include transit‐orienteddevelopment with housing, strategic locations for corporate headquarters and abundantoptions for additional open space. The variety of opportunities, both existing and future, make this corridor a focal point forDenver's future economy, with nearly 40,000 new jobs through new and expandedbusinesses and $2.6 billion in economic impact expected over the next three decades,including $13.4 million annually in additional city revenue.

The North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative was founded by Mayor Michael B. Hancock onJanuary 25, 2013. Recognizing a convergence of upcoming projects in the Elyria‐Swansea andGlobeville neighborhoods, the Mayor identified an opportunity to energize a cornerstone of
the Corridor of Opportunity and create an updated gateway to downtown by aligningindividual efforts into one coordinated vision. Kelly Leid manages the general oversight,planning, strategic coordination, financing and implementation of the six primary projects.
