What is the difference between Titles/Credits?

• Titles usually appear in a large font portraying the name of the movie within the trailer.

• Credits usually show up at the end of a trailer showing the different companies that contributed towards the movie for example the distribution companies and the cast. This is almost thanking everyone who took part in putting something towards the movie.

What do they say/ What are they about?

• The title would portray the main thing which is the name of the movie for example “Gnomeo and Juliet”

• In the titles they also have the company which contributed towards the film such as a distribution company for example “EON Productions”

• Credits consider different companies and people which contributed to the movie such as:

• The person who organised the music• The person who worked on the makeup• The person who chose the venue• The person who chose the costumes• The actors (casting crew)• The distribution companies• The person who worked with the special effects (if there are any) CGI

• Credits are used for the audience to know the cast crew better as they should be given credit for working hard to make the movie a good movie. This increases their fame and popularity and can have a positive effect on future movies allowing people to want to watch more movies with the big stars for example “Daniel Craig” starring In the “James Bond” movie.

trailer but sometimes you find the title could be in the middle or even in the end.

• How long they last: titles last up to 3-5 seconds depending on the type of trailer for example if you are looking at a thriller movie the title wont last anymore than 3 seconds.

• How close are they together: they’re usually seperated due to the timing

Where are the titles placed in the sequence?

• The title of the sequence is mainly placed at the beginning of the trailer. However it can sometimes be placed at the end due to the type of genre the movie follows.

• When its placed at the end its mainly to make the sequence more intense almost a cliff hanger wanting you to watch the rest of the movie.

How do they fit In with the genre/subgenre?

• The fonts emphasize the type of genre the movie is or even the subgenre.

• They always abide by a specific font to portray the theme of the trailer and the type of genre it follows.

• The font always matches the movies theme for example if you are watching a slasher movie you maybe find blood within the title or maybe a cut within the text. This depicts the idea of the horror genre.

• The size of the font and the amount of time the font will last on the screen all depends on the theme of the movie.
