This is a whole school celebration, lead by our Liturgy Team and Whanau group leaders. Each class will be offering thoughts and prayers. Secondly, Friday 28 September is our Mission Day. This year the children are raising funds for the people of the Sahel. It is a drought- ravaged area of North West Africa. We will begin with a Mass at 9 a.m in the Parish centre, followed by our stalls and activities in classrooms and around the school grounds. Please check with your child what they need to bring for next week. Again, all most welcome. I have included an image from the Caritas website. It is fantastic and we are delighted that overwhelmingly your comments show support for this. J ust a reminder – formal written reports are provided mid and end of year. National Standards: Many of you may have seen in the media statistics relating to National Standards data. The data that is shown for St Peter’s is but a small portion of the whole school and therefore does not reliably reflect averages across the school. Furthermore, it is very important to understand that National Standards do not indicate progress of any student. Substantial international research indicates clearly that this manner of reporting ‘success’ is unreliable and harmful. The very best way to find out your child’s progress is to ask the teacher. Reading incomplete data will not help you. Whole School Liturgy Reminder: TONIGHT—September 26, led by the Liturgy Team.  This will be held in the Parish Centre at 6 p.m. Children to attend in school uniform. After you are most welcome to visit your children's classrooms to view further Religious Education displays until 7pm. Mission Day Mass Reminder  To be held at 9 am in the Parish Centre on Friday September 28. This will be followed be our Mission Day fundraising activities. Children will know what their class is responsible for organising. It will also be on their class web pages. This year Caritas has asked for us to direct our funds toward the people of the drought stricken area of Sahel in Africa. Congratulations to Sophie Rhind (Room 4) who has been awarded a trophy from eTime's Virtual School for her winning uncrackable egg contraption. A splendid achievement!
