With my trio l was fortunate enough last season to be playing around 30 concerts together; which was really much fun and also gave us an opportunity to grow together more and more.

With Guus Bakker on Bass and Vinsent Planjer on drums, weʼre now preparing for the recordings of our new Trio-album, which will actually be the first real trio-only album, since on the previous CDʼs we had some guest musicians joining our team.

After being on the road together for quite some time now,and trying out many of my new sketches itʼs finally

time to record my new compositions, iʼm ecxited about it!

Just like my previous albums weʼre happy to be working again at the Dudok studio of Lex Tanger.

A good sounding grand-piano, good acoustics and Lexʼs sound and way of working hopefully will provide all the positive vibes to get something special going

REMBRANDT FRERICHS TRIORECORDS NEW ALBUM IN JULY

Together with special guest musicians the KEPERA TRIO was invited to play two live concerts in the Albayzin in Granada. Spanish recordlabel Wapapura, that works environmental friendly, brought in huge solarpower cells and recorded our two nights of live concerts. The music we recorded is Ottoman court music from the 19th century as well as original compositions based on the Ottoman traditions, featuring the Arabic Qanun,Ney and tenor saxophone

KEPERA TRIO’S ADVENTURES IN ALGERIA

An unique experience, thatʼs for sure! The Kepera trio was invited to play on a big European Music and Arts festival in Algeriaʼs capitol Algiers. As a partner for our group our bassist Tony Overwater suggested the ECM-recording violinist Kheir Eddine mʼKachiche, whom we have checked out and we have been rehearsing his songs the last couple of week. Our Algerian friend also put alot of effort into rehearsing our music. Then what happened is that we showed up at the Algiers airport, all ready and set to play this nice concert, when it turned out that we didnʼt have a visum! all in all it was a very long day, where the Kepera trio members got even better friend, through waiting and waiting. Unfortunately we had to go back to Holland, and now weʼll do the concert next year in Algeria... weʼre very much looking forward to that, and this time weʼll make sure we bring a visum!.

CONCERTS AND RECORDINGS IN BRAZIL

Brazilian drummer Magno Bissoli, with whom lʼve been on tour in Europe and Brazil as a member of the European Jazz Youth Orchestra in 2004, invited me to come down to Brazil this December to do 7 concerts with him as well as doing some CD recordings.

Weʼll play together with a Brazian bassplayer as well that l didnʼt meet yet, but l;m sure he will rock like these great Brazilian musicians do.

As soon as l finished the recordings of my Trio album in Holland l will start writing some new material for this project. Besides a swinging drummer Magno is also a great composer, so lʼm curious to hear and perform his new work...

TONALITY FOUNDATION

In order to devellop further internationalization, to grow more globaly and strengthen their competitiveness, the idea came to Vinsent Planjer and Rembrandt Frerichs to set up at an umbrella organization.

In Tonality new projects will be initiated, produced and directed. The brand of Tonality will be distributed by organizing its own concert series, CD releases and collaborations with other (creative) parties

We are convinced that many more people can enjoy jazz than it is today, we believe that by promoting the awareness, we will gain more fans of this creative music. We want to assist them in undergoing an evolving experience.
