Parent Teacher Meetings It’s been great to see so many parents making the time to check in with the teachers about their child’s progress at school this year. We know that successful schools foster greater communication with parents, encourage parental involvement in their child’s schoolwork and enlist parents to volunteer at the school and participate in school governance. Research tells us that parental involvement in a school and communication between school and home is critical to a child’s success at school. Halogen Leader’s Day On Monday, 25th March our Student Executive Team, Jacob Leela & Rachel, travelled with Mr Dudek and Mrs Emmott to Mandurah by car and then train to Perth for the annual National Leader’s Day which was held at the Convention Centre and hosted by Halogen. The students were given talks by Young Australian of the Year Akram Azimi, a member of the Cotton On Foundation who are aiming to Build 20 000 educational institutions around the globe by 2020, prominent children’s Author Matt Cosgrove and finally, four-time Olympian Leisel Jones. The main messages were about working hard, overcoming obstacles and helping others. The children represented our school and themselves in a fantastic manner and we thank them for their input in making the day a success. 40Km Zone Parents are reminded that for the safety of all children that between 7:30 – 9:00 am and 2:30 – 4:00pm the 40km/h speed limit near the school needs to be adhered to. Last week we had a near accident with a child crossing Challenger Rise. P & F This year the P & F are selling the Entertainment Book. The cost of the book is $70 and for every book sold either hard copy or digital, the school receives $14. Your purchase of an Entertainment Membership contributes towards our School. The more memberships we sell, the more we raise, so please tell your family and friends. To pre-order the NEW 2019 | 2020 Entertainment Membership and receive bonus offers you can use right away, please click on the following link https://www.entbook.com.au/8y9896 or if you prefer a hard copy book, these will be available to purchase from the school office from Thursday April 4. If you have any queries, please contact Michelle Williams on 0418 935 375. Don’t forget the P & F Meeting this Wednesday 3 rd April at 7pm in the staffroom. Interschool Swimming Carnival On Thursday 27 th March students from Years 4- 6 participated in the annual Interschool Swimming Carnival held at the South West Sports Centre. The competition was tough and our children represented the school with pride, participating with enthusiasm in all events. Whilst some children were disappointed not to get a place in individual events, they are commended for what they did achieve. 8th place in a Regional swimming carnival is to be celebrated. It was great to see so many parents there supporting the children and school. School Fees As we approach the end of Term 1, parents are reminded that all school fees are due by 31st October 2019. Whilst no child should be denied a Catholic education due to financial difficulties, those families who have not made a payment this year or who are in significant arrears will be contacted at the beginning of Term 2. If you would like to make an appointment to discuss your situation with the Principal please phone the school office on 97971999. Thank you. Issue 4 29 March 2019 NEWSLETTER
